I’m Im the same way. I have a long term project that I’m close to finishing. I’ve had some trepidation with stuff that I haven’t done before, and while not perfect, I did it myself and it feels soo good. I’ve given myself a “deadline” and have kicked myself in the butt lately, with the ambition to get out to the garage a couple week nights and at least one weekend at per week. You are right about the part about getting gratification from doing work.

Great update. Under dash work disorients me for hours. In the middle of some drudgery on a cabin project right now with winter as my motivator. If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with…
Amazon for the springs. Bushings from another online retailer, can't remember but if your old ones are in good shape, you might be able to reuse them.

David, thank you so much for your quick reply. I really appreciate you. If I take out the two front seats is it pretty much downhill from there in regards to laying the carpet. I am not super mechanically sound and don’t wanna move too much of the wiring. How is your samurai coming along?
@davidinfante85293 ай бұрын
There is almost no wiring down there and what there is has connectors you can undo. I'm using my Samurai as a little truck to haul parts and jump start and pull vehicles around the property. The engine smokes when it warms up but I've got a 1.6 sidekick engine that I need to put in at some point. That will be a video!
@chrisatib19933 ай бұрын
Nice!! That will be great upgrade. BTW, do you have any recommendations on a front bumper? Something simple, not too loud.
@chrisatib19933 ай бұрын
Nice work! How long to remove the front seats and rear bench?
@davidinfante85293 ай бұрын
I didn't have a rear bench but the front seats took about 20 minutes to pull. Just need to move them forward and backwards to expose the bolts. Well worth it in my opinion. I wish I'd fine the inside of the doors as well but maybe in the future.

Solid 😊 In the 70’s Ford made everyone with a TV an expert on the twin I-beam suspension. Put them in the sales lead and they never looked back. Love the short bed. Seemed like Chevy sold a few more of them through the 70’s. A rarity when trucks were more utilitarian. Didn’t catch in the video if you said this might be worthy of that 351? The last minute of that video gave me a panic attack.
@davidinfante85296 ай бұрын
The Cleveland is definitely a contender but requires a rear sump oil pan which would have to come out of a late 70's 351m/400 4wd truck to fit. I might go the easy route and source another 302 for now with longer term plans. Too many projects and nothing but time!

I’d follow up that vinegar bath with a baking soda and water bath to neutralize the acid effect. I honestly don’t think you used enough to cause any damage but I’ve lost BMX crank parts to vinegar during rust removal. That stuff will eat rust and continue eating until you stop it.
