Do you have any ideas on how to get the factory 2015 radio to work? is that something you’re looking into at all or is there something else in the works? My dad and I want to do this interior swap on a 76 Chevy C-10 but I can’t find anything online about if it’s even possible. I know the gauge cluster are cbus and vin locked but I would think the stereo is just power and data?
@MattyXBuilds7 күн бұрын
From what I researched, and this was mainly gathered from looking through the GMUpfitters diagram manual for a 2015, the Cluster, radio, hvac system, canbus, and pcm all feed off of each other with “logic” circuits that transfer serial data. My solution for this in the Low Country will be an aftermarket double din radio. Gives me what I need and fills the hole without being a major headache

I will be doing one of these shortly. From what you described, you left one of the top nuts for last and the booster kept falling away, making it difficult to remove the nut. I'm thinking I will remove both top nuts first, and then the bottom ones. This way, as the booster tries to fall away, pulling the top bolts first, the bottom remaining nut should easily spin off. Hope it works like I'm thinking!! Decent video and I have confidence this should be pretty easy and straight forward.
@MattyXBuildsАй бұрын
That sounds like it may be a solid approach! Touch back here after you get it done so we can help the community!
@mrmarwingee120 күн бұрын
i would say just take the nuts off the master cylinder and allow that to hold the booster in while your take the nuts off booster. then take it apart.

You can also use a vacuum gun and test it to see if it is holding vacuum. If it does not then it is no good.

I would get a master gasket set ( head gasket, oil pan, valve covers) basically everything your gonna regret not doing once its in. Beginning sounds like your just inspecting it. Also if you wanna try a baddda$$ degreaser ZEP purple degreaser at menards seemed like some pretty wicked stuff it's like 15-20$ and it'll eat the grease imo lol

I have an OBS myself and i love the colors of the high country interiors. Honestly you should have just kept the stock obs dash, color matched it with the high country and just used the high county seats. Not a fan of single cab trucks myself i need room. Having that extra room of an extended cab obs is essential imo, I use it so often there is no way i could deal with single cab.

@MattyXBuilds3 ай бұрын
Very true. Although we haven’t torn into the 6.0 for an inspection, and we did get brief starts before we pulled it out of the van.
@bjfrazier48953 ай бұрын
If you’re just wanting to do burnouts and cruise then I don’t see anything wrong with using the fresh 5.3. If it were to be a race truck then the bigger engine would be better but the 5.3 will suit your needs.
@MattyXBuilds3 ай бұрын
Agreed, and let me be clear when I say burnout I don’t mean takeover type stuff, just a lil stop sign roaster here and there. But mainly cruising. No track purpose or plans to do pulls constantly or often at all.
