Did this and now jeep won’t start…noticed dash doesn’t read gear position anymore. Please help

My 2011 wk2 has a black screen and says "check your surroundings" when in reverse, but the parking sensors do work and beep just fine. Is my GC having the same issue? Do the parktronics etc run of a different switch/circuit than the camera?

I have a 2011 Jeep GC Overland build date 4/11 my shift selector is not at all the same as yours! What is your build date? Do you know where the camera gets it signal from if the switch you show is not present?

This is probably not recommended but i removed that panel on driver side and *lightly* tapped the sensor and camera has been working so far

I have a 2018 compass with this problem. Dealer shop cleaned contacts...didn't fix it. I didn't go back. Didn't have time. Warranty covered it. Recently I took it back because I wanna sell it. Charged me $380 to replace the cam. Didn't fix it. They won't refund. They wanna change the cost at an extra charge. Will this trick apply to a 2018 model?

Sadly the 2012 has the same problem but the shifter assembly is completely different. i got min all apart and the part your showing is not there. There is a little momentasry switch right at the top thats engaged when the shifter is in park. so im not sure other than cleaning that part what to do.

This is a proven fix for me because at this point it's been over two years since I repaired it and I drive multiple times everyday so it's probably at least in Reverse six times a day for two years so I've probably been in Reverse at least four thousand times without any issues to date

I have two messages 1 on the gauge cluster saying "service parking assist system. And then on the radio screen says "check all surroundings". Who had that problem? And what was the fix?

I took it apart and lubed it, still no work does the sensor go bad in the shifter assembly? I also replaced the radio and still no camera, what next??

My Jeep Grand Cherokee is a 2015 and the mechanics appear very different when opening the side of the console. Do you have a fix for newer models?

If this sensor fails you should have other problems right? Like reverse light and or back up sensors?

FYI to others- this fix/switch did not exist/apply on my 2012 Grand Cherokee. I ended up replacing the backup camera itself, which appears to have fixed my issue
