I’d recommend chlorhexidine rinse too. Super easy to apply to dog mouth and keeps it even healthier

How much do you charge to clean a cats teeth?
@VonHohenhallaDobermans8 күн бұрын
hello! only a licensed veterinarian could do this on an animal that is not their own, as in most states its considered practicing veterinary medicine. but you can do it on your own dog or cat!

Just started to clean my 12 year old mini schnauzer with dental tools since my vet recommended not to put her under anesthesia because of her age. I was super surprised she didn’t move at all while cleaning her teeth since she doesn’t like it when I brush her teeth. This video did help me see which tools to use since the kit I bought had so many 😂. My next dog I will definitely will be using this dental tools from early on.

I've been doing this for around 20yrs. You have a short coated dog, so for those who have dogs with long coats, and or fluffy feet here a quick tip. Take a pair of tights, pop socks, stockings or even a sock. Slide it over the dogs paw, make a little hole and push the nail through the hole. This will hold back any fur and prevent it from being ripped out in a giant clump if it gets caught and wrapped round the dremel bit. The material will jam up the dremel and stop it, whereas the fur offers no resistance and is painfully torn out.

Thanks for your video! Really good shots. Always good to see what's needed. Now, what do you do if your dog won't let you touch her paws with clippers or drimmel? I'm gonna just touch one toe today. Two tomorrow. And so on. And then or maybe concurrently, adding the drimmel by touching it running to her paws with treats after each touch! Hope it works. I guess, all I've got is time. It would be so much easier if my pooch could understand English (or Spanish or German!).

Great vid like others have said the close ups really help to get a feel for what we are aiming for. dont agree 100% about white nails being easier hard or easy depends on the dog staying still and relaxed.

Thanks for the great shots in this video. I was thinking that part underneath the nail, that looks concave and a different texture, was part of the quick. Now I see it is not and I can dremel that area and take my dogs nails back even further

I noticed there a slight hole on my dogs tooth on the part under the gum line. I am scared that she may have to get it removed😢. Not sure I am the one who caused the hole while scraping. I don’t I was going too hard

I was surprised and concerned about how nervous she was during the nail grinding. Her breathing seemed way too rapid and scared me!!! Also, In my opinion cutting or grinding a dog's nails every week is not necessary and a bit overly obsessive to me.

Call yourself a professional? Dogs have clawes. not nails, primates like us have nails. Stop making your diog's claws satifsfy your sense of what's right, they know what's right for them, and shed layers of their cxlaws to maintain the right length. They do this by chewiong and breaking away several layers, which look like a hollow claw whn on the floor. My dogs have usually eaten them, being a source for keratin for more layers. Try some education on biology. .

If I could just get my pup used to the sound of the dremel.. poor pup is scared out of his mind with it… along with vacuums and other small appliances that make the high frequency sounds. Been using a dremel on him since he was tiny and he’s over a year old, just as scared now as he was before. He sits still but shakes sooooo bad, breaks my heart. Any tips for that? He has black nails so I get nervous every time, so your video is very helpful.

What rpm do you have your dremel at?
@VonHohenhallaDobermans7 ай бұрын
Usually at 7-8 but really depends on how comfortable you are and how new the sandpaper is. General rule is make the speed so it doesn’t skip when using it
