Wow! Anybody that doesn’t see the volumes of information that just got transmitted between those two in under a minute needs to up their coffee consumption. That was absolutely amazing.

I hate fast food as much as the next person, but no need to perpetuate misquotes. They want to do dynamic pricing, and only lower prices when there aren't people around. I'm sure they will do dynamic pricing some day to squeeze a few more pennies, but that time isnt yet. Saying that, I do not buy from wendy's or other fast food, just thought I should comment that they arent actually going to do surge pricing (yet). I recommend against going to fast food, and if you are going to eat out, patron your local restaurant if they are still around. They need it, and probably have similar prices to fast food.

These fast food chains are going to go out of business. At this point, they’re already as expensive as real restaurants as it is. If they think they can charge that much, why shouldn’t I just go to a real restaurant instead? If they’re going to charge even more, why the shit should I go to a fast food joint? It’s like the CEOs of these places are all drunk or something.

You aren't wrong -- fast food prices are WEIRD! We have several local restaurants that have great food and are cheaper than fast food. It's so strange.
@paperdo8 ай бұрын
These fast food places are running off of peoples habits more than anything now. Way too many people just default to "well fast food has always been the cheapest", and just go there. At this point, the lower tier of sit-down places are all cheaper than the major fast food burger joints in my locale. Better food, more food, and cheaper food, not a bad option.

There is already a term for this. This is literally what "price gouging" is. It has long been understood to be an unethical business practice. Gig services like Uber have been doing this sort of thing for a while, but they can at least _claim_ that it is intended to improve the service (by encouraging more drivers to be available during high-demand times). Whether that's actually true or not is a separate issue, but at least they have some sort of a _justification_ for why they're supposedly doing it. Wendy's has no such possible justification. This has absolutely no potential to improve the service or improve the quality of the received goods in any way. It is just charging people more money for the same product _purely because they think they can get away with it._ It's so blatantly unethical it would almost be funny (if I didn't know lots of other places are going to try to follow suit too, because that's the world we now live in).
@Redditor60798 ай бұрын
They could _potentially_ justify it if they gave employees _surge wages_ but that would open up an entirely new can of worms as there is no guarantee restaurants like Wendy's will have customers every hour of every day.
@thegoodadvicepodcast8 ай бұрын
Yeah, we really should be more serious about calling out price gouging. You're spot on.
@panzermk88 ай бұрын
That’s a lot of words to say “I don’t understand economics or price gouging” Price gouging is specifically when people radically increase prices after supply shocks like natural disasters on basic necessities. It also happens to be illegal This is just a price increase. Technically, nothing is stopping Wendy’s from charging $1000 for a burger and fries. Is that price gouging? No. It’s just that no one will buy it at that price. The same applies here. If the price is too high, people just won’t go Wendy’s anymore, and they’ll make less money than they did with lower prices. It’s really quite simple

Here's a point you're not considering. Wendy's restaurants are never packed, but for some reason they do amazing on delivery. I do uber and doordash as side gigs, and yeah. Wendy's makes a killing on delivery. That's where surge pricing will do really well for them.
@Redditor60798 ай бұрын
Yup thanks to COVID significantly more people now are conditioned to use delivery service apps. It may be more expensive but it's the same convenience of fast food that attracts people to the convenience of ordering delivery.

ChatGPT is great for low-level, monotonous tasks like writing meta descriptions, creating outlines for articles, etc. and has done wonders for my own productivity. I refuse to use it for writing emails even though it’s pretty good at that too since, like you said, you want to have that personalized touch with people and I’d just feel wrong having Skynet write my emails for me. Great video!

I'm with you. It's great for getting an outline or getting started on some writing tasks, but it's not great for that personal touch. I say learn how to use it effectively with your relationships staying at the forefront before using it for personal communication.

True diversity in the workplace has nothing to do with skin color, or ethnicity, or gender. True diversity in the workplace comes from diverse experiences, skills, and thought. And a good boss knows where his emoyees strengths can be best utilized, based on that level of diversity.

If you are working for a FAiL iRRESPONSiBLE BUSiNESS that can’t afford to pay a living wage with benefits They can’t afford to be in business paying Americans poverty wages So they can own a business Is entitlement at it’s finest They are asking human beings to use their lives, to subsidize their desire to own a business If a job is worth being done it’s worth being paid to live I side with the American workers for these reasons America needs to return back to paying a living wage with benefits Our government and companies for the past 30 years have been getting richer While Americans get screwed Our government does everything in their legislative power to pass legislation to screw Americans Millions Americans working full time are still having to rely on food stamps, housing, medical, shelter assistance No full time Americans should be in need of any of that if they got paid a living wage with benefits.

I appreciate this remark from you -- that if you can't afford to pay people a living wage, you really shouldn't be in business.

This is actually not correct anymore, the KZbin algorithm was changed and doesn't lead down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories anymore, but usually leads you one to more mainstream videos for the last few month already. Facebooks algorithm usually doesn't give you user content you are not connected with, thus the feedback they use is the active engagement. Thus to create an echo chamber there one has to active seek out the content and engage with it (liking and commenting), and even then it is just the stuff from one's friends and the groups one has joined. And actually, Facebook quite often feeds people the stuff the react negative about, since if that lads to engagement (sad or angry smiley or angry comments) then they have achieved in getting people staying there.
