The consensus among Classical philosophers was that before the "Why" question can be asked, the "What" and "Where" questions must first be determined. The video failed to do complete that basic task.

Pacific Electric had lost money most of it's existence. Southern Pacific took control of PE in the great merger. Oscar Smith became president of PE. Mr. Smith had been Henry Huntingtons' stenographer. SP told Smith, " Here is 10 million dollars, do whatever you want, but don't ask for more money." It was the popularity of the automobile that killed PE. There was no public support for subsidizing a private, for profit transit operator.

A very special woman who is famous in her own right Elizabeth uribe owned a cabin up there for Holiday trips she offered her cabin to my girlfriend for many years and my girlfriend and I never we're interested. One Summer we thought we would give it a try thinking it would be a cabin that would be unheated with a minimum of amenities. We got to the cabin late at night around 2:30 a.m. we were surprised the condition of the cabin it was beautiful with a two-story convenience had all the amenities showers bathtub kitchens plenty of parking in a wonderful outdoor balcony walkway. Me and my girlfriend went to that cabin for many years off and on weekends or holidays we would offer Elizabeth money for the experience she never took our money. I did install some ceiling fans for her that were needed that came in handy for summer and a few other odds and end things outdoor GFI plug . Very quiet place to visit and vacation the locals are very friendly I became acquainted with some as we had a conversation to be on the lookout for people loitering in front of cabins that are people's homes too. I enjoyed lake Gregory with my girlfriend Brianna we had a lot of fun up there for many years off and on on vacations. I enjoy telling stories about crestline and lake Gregory to people. Great video. I may have some video footage of Elizabeth's cabin. Unfortunately she has passed away she lived a good life she was struck in with polio when she was 15 years old she came from the country of Chile when she was out of college she came to the United States to get a good job she was in a wheelchair all of her adult life from the effects of polio it never stopped her from pursuing her dream of coming to America and finding a good job. She told me one time the reason why she pushed herself to get a college degree in order to find a high paying job she wanted to have friends and she said with a lot of money I can offer people food and invite them over to my home. That was why she told me she works so hard to earn a good living and to have enough money to spend it on people Elizabeth was a great person and I told her I was there for her friendship to spend time with her not because of the food she offered me. I would always bring her some little surprise something from the supermarket watermelon or cantaloupe she couldn't eat any fried foods she had to watch her diet. You can find her story on the internet if you care to look for her Lizabeth Uribe . She told me her doctor told her she was a 1 percenter in her group of people with polio most people with polio do not do as much with their lives as Lizabeth had done with her life . And it was an honor to know her and to say she was my friend . Sincerely Joey ⚓ PS she actually wrote a book about her life I urged her to do it about 10 years before she got it done she told me she put my name and mentioned me in her book she called me her savior a few months before her passing I did some work for her and told her a autograph book with her signature would be sufficient for payment she agreed and was happy to sign the book to me with her well wishes rest in peace Lizabeth Uribe 🌹

It's about time someone cared enough about San Bernardino to post videos of our history , keeping in mind that San Bernardino has a history much older than the European settlers that came here for FREE land.

I'm from the neighborhood and Cucamonga and only thing I'll correct you on is they weren't Mexican immigrants they were the Mexican Indians that were already living in the area. And my neighborhood some of those descendants are from the original families that were picking at that time who also were part of the Cucamonga Indian tribe

Thanks for sharing. What is your stance on Reparations and what happened to her land? Did her family inherit and build generational wealth or like many African descendants of slavery (ADOS) have their land stolen, via White mobs or eminent domain? Consider the Tulsa, OK, and Forsyth County GA race riots, where the Black residents were driven out and all the land business, etc. were stolen. Or Bruces' Beach where government policy displaced a Black family and community in Manhattan Beach, CA. I hope you are serious about what is needed to correct this historic wrongdoing and are in favor of AB3121. Truthfully, there isn't a need for a study, the facts are well known and documented.

Thank you for sharing Janice. Appreciate the history lesson that highlights the life of Mrs. Biddy Mason. Currently finishing a wonderful book entitled, "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson which tells the story of four American families who were part of the great migration from the South and the challenges they faced and overcame.

The mobs connection to Lake arrowhead is well documented and very obvious. I lived there 20 years. Luciano and Anastasia names are still in the phonebook. Coincidence? No The mob is still there and they use the village to launder money. The village and hotel is sold every four years. Doesn’t matter if it makes money. The Hilton hotel made lots of money, that’s why they got rid of it.

PACIFIC ELECTRIC WAS KILLED BY CORPERATE GREED ! The Big 5 ! The Department Of Transportation ( Now Caltrans ) The Atlantic Richfield Company ( ARCO ) General Motors , Firestone / Goodyear Rubber National Coach Lines , Metropolitan Coach Lines, Southern Pacific ( PE's Parent Company ) Forced To Sell To MCL , L.A.M.T.A , S.C.R.T.D Lack Of Government Funding , Lack Of Maintenance On Track , Equipment , Poor Operations Management , And All Transportation Companies Lose Money From Their Start To Their End But That Is Because Of Poor Management And Public Demand And Government Funding ! But Most Of All It's Just CORPERATE GREED ! 😎

I had many family members who worked for Fontana Steel. I remember the great wages they received and the vacation time was 4 or more weeks a year. The unions kept wanting more and more money and that was probably their demise. The workers got to greedy.

Hi there, I really enjoy your videos..👍 My family's property Shares the East border of the Etiwanda fan preserve. You can see it in the 1st picture of this video. I grew up here. Today was one of those beautiful days. I really enjoy seeing the photos of the property before the Floods. My parents are older now and My brothers and I have been spending a lot more time here recently. Your video reminded me of the Chinese mine shaft in the backyard. 20 years ago my brother and I found it and dug out the entrance. We had a map That showed a Large tunnel You could drive a car through. We never found it. It showed it ran from here over to old Waterman Canyon road. I have never heard anyone talk about it. I am sure it is still there. I wonder if there is evidence In the archives??? Very cool Thanks for your hard work👊 Justin Cunningham

This shelter's guys participated in a crime of illegally taking and stealing of our top world class titled 49 German Shepherd dogs and puppies. Officially (investigation just started) they killed 2 adult dogs and 14 of 3 weeks old puppies . We are devastated, my daughter is traumatized, so as dogs. When we recovered half of the dogs from them, they all looked mentally unstable and sedated

Today what's left of Fontana Works is what is known in the steel industry as a "mini-mill", a steel mill that uses scrap steel as it's raw material and electric arc furnaces to melt it down. Because of this, mini-mills can be built in places not considered steel making areas...like Texas! With the exception of Armco Steel's Houston Works, all Texas steel mills are mini-mills. Sadly Armco Steel closed the Houston Works in the late 1980's. The closest mill to my home is Commercial Metals Corporation-Steel Texas plant near McQueeney Texas. Long-time residents will remember it as Structural Metals Inc. In fact the gondolas that bring scrap to the plant still bear the reporting marks "SMIX", the "X" suffix indicating private ownership of the railcars. I was lucky enough to tour the mill in June of 2007. Fascinating place.
@WAL_DC-6B
@WAL_DC-6B 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think California Steel Industries is a traditional "mini mill" as it apparently does not have any electric arc furnaces for melting scrap metal to be cast into slabs. Instead, they receive steel slabs from foreign sources such as from Brazil and reheat them to be rolled into customer's requirements.
