Wow, I am so impressed with your knowledge of clocks! I am in process of maybe buying a similar clock, so wanted to hear the chimes. They are very rich. Also, I have another clock I have had for 55 years and had to replace the mainspring on it. I was very careful to get it all back together perfectly. It runs, but chimes won't work anymore. Long story short, your video has an almost mirror movement so finally I have guide to fix mine! Thank You! 😁 P.S. I have 12 clocks, all different chimes, bought my first one at 20 years old.

Great account and thanks for explaining torsion spring movement. I'd be scared that it wasn't being wound at all. I've had a few clocks whereby I don't hear the click and think it's worn and about to fail imminently!
@luka33775 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I live with the same fear whenever I wind my Junghans bracket clock... the time side clickspring might need to be replaced or strengthened, as you can barely hear the clicking noise while winding it. I'll have to take care of that in the future.

Personally, for 8 day walk clocks and cuckoo clocks I like to also lift the bottom of the weight to avoid potentially damaging a clock especially if it’s old.

That's a very beautiful OG clock. I'm glad it's working well, but it would be a good idea to clean out all the dried oil as it could cause wear to the pivots. Lovely painting though!

@@luka3377 that's too bad. May well have suggested to you, go to www.the-saleroom.com and create a free account and key in what you're looking for. BUT, don't be too specific, or you may never find one! If you do, contact auctioneer by clicking on handy link and ask for even a video where it's a musical/chiming one and ask if springs 'wind to tight' indicating they're not broken, to gauge if it's going to need serious money spending on it!
