Coincidence. 7 notes, thousands of years, how does anyone know how many times that pattern of melody was met before Rachmaninoff heard it. How do we know that some Egyptian 4000 years ago wasn't humming it? It's a beautiful melody in any era.

No Eric Carmen is a Genius for songwriting of Big Hits. Im sure the music was in his head as the melody and his lyrics are so realistic in any1's love drama...Eric Carmen had many hits that he alone wrote...Never gonna fall in love again is a hit just with his lyrics alone. No doubt the music is as close as it gets, maybe it is a sample as many artist do these days. Its a Great Song, even if he changed the melody.

And as I said, when you consider humans have been singing and humming for thousands of years with only 7 notes, sooner or later, a pattern is going to be duplicated. It's inevitable.

Great insightful Video. Interesting fact: Hauser , that we see here on the Cello, is holding a concert in London, Royal Albert Hall on May 9th. Guess who is one of his 3 special guests? Lara Fabian! We all anticipate a joint rendition of Adagio 😊

Despite the name, Albinoni didn't compose the classic masterpiece that was used for this song: it's Remo Giazzotto in the 50s. See my other comment. Also, for this italian version, the first one sang by Lara, before an english translation was made later on, it's Lara herself that wrote entirely the lyrics. Lara Crokaert is the real name of Lara Fabian. She used her uncle's first name (Fabiano) as her artist stage name. Dave Pickell and Vleminckx co-wrote with her the english version.

@ericsicard910, you are right about all that. I have just posted e new video about Remo Giazotto being the real composer of the Adagio. On a side note, would you be interested in co-producing a video along those lines?

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Charice Penpengco, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , … They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLShGCBhLGJlZY Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5eaqZaDg5KHj6s Or you can check her recent excellent renditions: - in Paris early october 2022 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKbPmKt_Yp2toJY - In Tbilissi Georgia in april 2023 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH63YWeVor1nmqcsi=jzIpgs_LdgX1ZjSV
