I’m starting to think that Marina Del Rey doesn’t take you to where the big fish are. Ive been going there since I was kid and we used to catch big fish all the time. I’ve been going a lot these past months and no one on the boat catches big fish anymore. There’s also no live bait! I’m going again this Saturday in hopes to catch quality fish, wish me luck! 🤞🏽

Jigging would be a good idea .. we never got to try it out because we were chasing the tuna boils ..there were so many more fish caught barracuda , a.j. Huge needle fish ! Definitely great fishery out there ..

We catch it before we head out bro . We start early at 4 am dedicate 2 hours to catching the bait .. then go for halibut .

How do you transport the LIVE SARDINES for the bait shop to the jetty?

You can use the same set up but I suggest getting less than a full scoop to keep them alive.. in this video we are using smelt , they are abundantly available at the jetty check out my first video on how to catch them 🤙🏻hope that helps out./

@@EDDIEJETTY , thanks. I don't have Instagram , but did you just go to the fisherman's wharf and pay a captain? I spent a few nights on the beach at playa San Diego and saw the pangas coming in each morning. I wanted to ask if they would take me for a few of course. but the surf launch was a little crazy for me !

Congratulations! I myself am a beginner fisherman, so I cannot say whether or not you find this difficult, but for me, and for the regional Sargo I try to fish, taking them out of the water is not an easy feat, never mind even making it bite the hook. Resilient little buggers, I'll give them that. I often try to use one-sided rock clams as bait, and it seems to work so far, though they have the downside of being rather tedious to dig out. Sargo do remain one of my favourites to fish if simply because of the resistance they exert on the line. They also taste delicious, which is a bonus. I saw that you do not keep them. Is it because you aren't fond of their taste or is it because of their size not being compliant with the size that should be fished? Perhaps it is a regional species difference, however, it seems that the Sargos where I come from repopulate rather quickly, so we do not really have laws regulating their fishing.
