Very well put together video. Would you be interested in undertaking paid work to help me fix my identical (even same colour) 306? If so my WhatsApp is +44 (0)74 3285 7155. Thanks, Richard

Excellent vid :) I replaced the rear window of my 2001 but it seems like a knock off brand and is too floppy….. now my whole roof seems to sag a bit. Do you know where I can purchase a firm plastic, genuine rear window replacement? I am in Australia but could pay postage. :/ I want my car to look good again… she’s my baby ☹️

Apologies I dont. You might find it worth checking on classic car convertable roofsuppliers - they might be able to custom fettle something for you- its only PVC in the end

Beautiful! Finally a video in english explaining something about the hood mechanism. Thank you for sharing! Do you by any chance happen to have extended knowledge about the hood mechanism on a Peugeot 306 Cabriolet? I would love to get some answers on some questions that have been haunting my mind. I own a 2002 model (phase 3). It started leaking hydralic fluids, due to old/cracked hoses around 2017 (very common problem). So I bought and relpaced the hydraulic hoses with new ones, from "helperformance", then refilled the hydraulic fluid pump. I even tipsed the French community about the hose producent, in which they did not know about at the time, and then I made a 306 club site for the remaining cab community in my contry. Here's the thing, though. I'm just a 306-loving girl with no mechanical background or community to find support. Up until the moment of severe leakage, the roof mechanism have operated just fine. Although the last few times in a sort of jumping/staggering motion. I've operated the roof from the switch about three times after the replacement of hoses/fluid. But the euphoric feeling were shortly replaced with new insecurities, as the roof would only operate one way (up or down - can't actually remember what direction it completed) but would not operate the other. Since then, I've only operated the soft top manually, which is now insanely heavy due to the airtight system of hydraulic fluids. 1. Do you have any idea what might be the issue here? 2. One thing that have been haunting my mind is the possibility of any lingering air-bubbles inside the hydraulic hoses/system, that I did not "pump out" after assembling the new hoses. Wouldn't even know how to do so, if I were supposed to. I would be so thankful if you knew anything about this! The little electric buss (sound) that I used to hear when pushing the operating switch, were somewhere in 2018 replaced with one short click. I read somewhere that this can happen if the roof positioning is not right, or if the roof operating sensors are disturbed, out of place or broken. If so, the roofs "brain" box, ovverides the electric motor ignitiation, because the "roof is not safe to operate" kind of thing. I only know of one "sensor" which looks like a little white wheel, hiding in the crack of the first bendable part of the roof, on the passenger side. 3. Do you happen to know if there are any more sensors hiding around? I so much want to succeed fixing my roof mechanism. But to be honest I've been frozen in between the state of trying to wrap my head around what I might have missed, why it would not fully operate, and the fear of doing something wrong (that I would not know that I might be doing). Total analysis paralysis. Would be forever greatful if you can help me "unstuck" myself 😂

Hi I’ll see if i can find my manual. I think you need to manually open and close the hood three or four times after replacing so many hoses to purge the system and reset it
@jamescave465
@jamescave465 Ай бұрын
Hi. My (limited) understanding of the mechanism is that after replacing the hoses you need to purge air out of the system. To do this you open and close the roof with the ignition on but manually by actual firmly- but carefully opening and closing the roof 3 times. Top up the reservoir between each time if need be. You then should be ok

Nice video, but i cannot see what are you doing when you pull the pipes out. I can only see paper, your hands and your head. So i dont understand how to remove a pipe that pop out from the metal base
@jamescave465
@jamescave465 11 ай бұрын
You just pull the pipe through. They are only fixed to the hydraulic unit at one end and the ram at the other

Hello, may I ask you about another problem with the roof: My roof works quite well, but it has to be supported when you start or folding it into the car (exactly when you open the roof lid = in this video time 0:30). Otherwise (when not supported), instead of starting to fold the roof into the car, it will fall back onto the windscreen frame. Then the unit doesn't know what's going on it shuts off the hydraulics and I have to manually fold it back to the starting position to get the control unit to reload the limit switches. Edit: Hoses were replaced and now it has no leaks.

Hi. If the boot lid- or roof itself is not staying up I believe it means you may have air in the system. I think this can be purged by manually slowly moving the roof through a full open and shut sequence. I will try and find a link to a Peugeot manual

Hi. Cannot pretend to be an expert but i would check in the boot to see if you are low on hydraulic fluid. If thats ok open the “lid” manually and check if the mechanism along the back is broken- i have heard that the cam that rotates to lift the lid can snap. Replacing this is not hard

Hi James, I have viewed your video and found it very informative but my problem seems to be from leakage of the hydraulic pipes from the other ram on the drivers side. If you could give me any guidance it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Vid is over one year old, not sure if you are still reading this. I assume the repair panels are identical but mirrorred. What if you had used each repair panel the other way around at the opposite side of the car as a template? I suppose that the holes are all in the right position then and by facing the angled part towards you you don't have trouble with the rust on the bottom of the frame rail.
