I love that your school celebrates culture ! I bet they do everyone’s cultural activities and foods❤ | Story time!! ( you don’t have to read ) before at my old school everyone was getting certificates but only some people didn’t get it. I wondered why I didn’t get it. So I waited my turn but the lady who was giving them out already left. I was still in elementary and when I wanted to get a certificate I asked my friends what they got it for. One of my friends said “ I dunno. Tbh I don’t really care about some paper with words “ and my other friend said “ for being Hispanic “ . I laughed at them and said “ cmon be honest what did u really get it for? “. They said again for being Hispanic. But as I looked around all the kids who got it were Hispanic. So I thought I was gonna get once for being Asian. As that year came by I didn’t get one. Everyone in that class who was Hispanic was like ,” why are u so mad ? It’s just a paper? “ but it wasn’t just a paper. Certificates are for awards, achievements, ideas!! When your born you can’t chose what skin, race, gender, culture, you are. And for people who think that maybe they did something. No they didn’t do anything, even kids who were bad got them. I didn’t get any certificates and I worked hard in school. Now that I look back at it. This could create racism towards that community. I like to be very positive but when all my friends brag to me their certificates with their names and fancy words I looked at it and asked ,” so what you do to achieve that? “ my friends said “ well um it’s for being Hispanic”. Don’t get me wrong I love the Hispanic culture, food, dances, and traditions. For me it’s just not fair that they’re starting racism. So I asked them. “ if I only got an award for being Asian I didn’t achieve anything or do anything is that fair? “ they said yes but it’s only cause that didn’t happen and they got one. These kinda things starts racism in school. YOUR TEACHING KIDS ONE RACE IS BETTER THEN THE OTHER. And they’re proud of it? It makes all the other kids who didn’t get one not have the chance to feel like they’re important. Since this is race you can also use Gender as an example.. what if only Boys got certificates for being boys? What if only.. girls got certificates for being girls? You see it wasn’t fair! 😢 and im still waiting for my certificate- 💀 even tho I passesd elementary . I’m so glad that other schools celebrated all cultures
