Thankyou for giving credit to Frankie as he truly is the originator of this haunting tune. I have played it so many times in my own way on the piano. A wonderful piece!!!!!!!

Sounds and even looks like a Fifties Canadian version of Reba. And yes from the sounds of this Record Miss Myrna Lorrie should have been Marketed equally as well. Terrific pipes.🤔😉🎤💃🇨🇦🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🎻🥁B.W.

I dunno. I might prefer Reg Bouvette's version. Either way, it's an amazing tune. I must have heard it every day for ten years, and I never got tired of it. It's at the top of my list of five favourite fiddle tunes.

At upur school dances at Inwood Collegiate we had Andy Desjarlais record to dance to.. Mr and mrs MacNeil chaperoned and had everyone on the floor going around in a circle until a partner of the opposite gender happened in your choices.

Found him through Reg Bouvette. He's a wicked banjo picker, and I'm always on the lookout for more Canadian banjo players. Great stuff.

Maybe not. South of 60 and outside of Manitoba, it's surprisingly little known. I heard an interview with Graham Townsend (and a few others) on CBC radio, and when "Red River Jig" was mentioned they said they hadn't heard of it. That blew me away.

Foreign born Canadian right here. I just wish Canada and its people would reject multiculturalism and embrace this unique aspect of Canadian culture.

I know this as 'Angus Polka No.1' - a Scottish tune first recorded by Cameron Men so also known as that. Recorded also by Boys of Lough - the tune called Donegal Barn Dance in this set is also called 'Peach Blossom'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/envVnoqHfpx3etU
