I love seeing people argue ruthlessly about which comic book company is better. I don’t like either, I just like Batman. I don’t understand why so many people get so violently angry about what someone else likes

Co creators like Eastman and Laird. Both Deserve credit Kane and Finger both co-created Batman both made Batman who he is today. It's unfortunate that Finger never gets credit though because he deserves credit for what he did for Batman.

I MUCH prefer Marvel to DC. I don't like Batman because he has no super powers and for me how he fights crime has nothing to do with a bat has done to Bruce Wayne wheras Spiderman,for example,was bitten by a radioactive spider and then afterwards he could climb vertical surfaces and have spidersense. I know that, staying true to the comic,he could make web only by his invented wrist mecanism. Even the association between Bruce Wayne and bats is very vague and I don't like Batman having no bat like super powers. If Im wrong because I'm not a DC or Marvel comic reader and Im only going by movies I stand corrected. Thanks Stan for creating so many,in my opinion.loved superheroes. You are missed.

For clarification, Bill Finger created Batman, but Bob Kane modernized Batman into the version we see today. The Bill Finger Batman is not the same as the Bob Kane Batman (which is more dark and brooding with the black outfit).

Like the guy above said, you have it backwards. Finger came up with most of what we associate with Batman. Kane originally conceived a blonde hero with a domino mask and red body suit.

Detective Comics was just one of their ongoing series, beside Action Comics (where Superman was born) and a couple other runs. Then, as Lee was describing here, they decided to unite all their series under one banner, and chose DC.

No they don't. DC has worse comics by light years and they have had worse comics for over 20 years. Marvel started getting to DC levels of bad writing around 8 years ago when they went with the formula of zero consistency that D.C has been using since the early 2000's.

Love Stan ... but he could have at least admitted it was "Detective Comics" and not just D.C. The decision to shorten it cam in 1977 by some new Marketing prodigy named Jeanette Kahn.

Nobody who doesn't really look at the history knows that is what D.C stands for. Naturally Stan lee used the shorthand form because that is what people know.

@@Tracks2008 and so much is to pity ... It is such a rich history. I have to wonder if people even realize the connection in the name change from National to Detective Comics. The change came, after National Comics #26 to the 1st Appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27.Branding Batman as The World's Greatest Detective ever since.

@@canundrumsixnine6830 Most Marvel fans don't even know it used to be called something other than Marvel (it was Timely Comics as I remember). Most also just don't care either. Sadly this is the kind of thing that is so quickly forgotten. Well this and the fact that the same writers and artists worked for both DC and Marvel hence a lot of the characters were not rip offs because it was the same people making the characters for both companies. In other cases the DC writers and artists were friends with the Marvel ones. There was no "rivalry" between the two companies because both relied on many of the same people.
