Has Robbie been on the white stuff, the liquid stuff, the funny cigarette or a bit of everything?? ❤

Love them all, love their music. Robbie wrote some great lyrics, played great guitar, so handsome and full of charisma, however, I love to watch Rick bouncing all over the stage. He too was very handsome in his youth, and such an endearing personality.

I think Robbie is funny here, I'm sure he is stoned, but he is funny describing Scorsese and how he directs.

Not me buddy, no way would I even attempt to go to any concert with a crowd like that 😮 I saw them in '74 with Bob Dylan in the United States. I was third row on the floor of an indoor venue and they were 1,000 times better than this. 🤟✌️❤️🌼

I was seated to the left of the stage. I think I spent half of The Band's set looking for my boyfriend who we were unable to rendezvous with after driving down separately from Yorkshire. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. I really only went to see Joni Mitchell but did enjoy The Band and CSN&Y.

Thats the Strat Robbie played at The Last Waltz ! He had the candyapple red colour scraped off and changed into a bronze coloured guitar ,which is now R&R gold dust . The Band ....their musicality was unrivalled .

I thought this was the set of CARNEY. The movie he did with Jodi Foster and Gary Busey. Robbie did the music Martin Scorcese(?)..Great old campy film. All the performers are REAL carney legends.

Dylan starts to say “ ask her if she wants to……” then there’s a cut. So maybe it was BD responsible for this embarrassingly juvenile encounter. An attempt at humour that falls flat on its arse

Whoa, so get a load of this. I just heard Robbie say in the Last Waltz Stratocaster video that the guitar he bronzed for the movie was a “red Stratocaster” he bought in 1973 at Norm’s Rare Guitars. I deduce that’s the red one he’s playing at this show. This is the Last Waltz guitar he was destined to bronze.

Robbie looked like he had so much fun playing rock n roll, much like Eddie, that it’s hard to reconcile with the idea that when he was relatively young he decided it was mostly boring.

Never heard that about Robbie, I read his book and also Barney Hoskyns biography of The Band. He was hooked on rock and roll as a teenager and even before.
@SmelOdies

@@hannejeppesen1809 I read his book as well as biographies too and he was definitely not as excited about live playing in his 30s on as he was in his 20s.

@hannejeppesen1809 3 ай бұрын
@@SmelOdies I guess I misunderstood your comment, I thought you meant he thought the music (rock and roll). Yes, you are right, he was done with touring, and he was weary of kind of being the caretaker of 3 (Richard, Rick and Levon) heroin addict. Also by 1974 he had 3 small children and wanted to spend more time with them. I don't think he found the music boring, but at the same time he seemed like the kind of person that was always looking for something new and different.

@@hannejeppesen1809 I don’t think he found the act of guitar playing itself as fun as he appeared to in the footage that we all know.
@hannejeppesen1809
@hannejeppesen1809 3 ай бұрын
@@SmelOdies What footage are you referring to? The Last Waltz? I don't want to speculate. I know Robbie was always all about the music, but I think he was always looking for new ways to express himself. However, he continued to play guitar and also collect them.

Those of us who are Robbie fans, don't think so. Not fake, but I think he was stoned. Robbie was more intellectual (which is not the same as intelligent, I think all the Band members were intelligent, although some were self destructive) and the others, to some that might come off as fake. He didn't even finish high school, but read a lot, so basically self taught.

1971 and still sounds as fresh and cool as it did back in the day, Levon once said “Good music don’t have no expiration date on it, if it’s a good song now it’ll be a good song in the future “ 😎❤️🎶🎙🎸🎹🥁🎺🎷🎻
