You are so creative and it is fantastic that I can now hear your voice in distant Old Germany. The film and the text (oh, yes, you can really tell stories) about your mother already touched me.

Watched 'em both - nice job, John! Solid production values; good filming, good editing, nice choice of music! Joe Ganzler here - 1970 graduate, 1974 NHRHS graduate, 1978 Rutgers College graduate. Still in daily touch with my best friend since (Mrs. Ludlum's) 3rd grade class, Mark Lentz. Stay in occasional touch with Doug Hintz, Kathy Nagie, and Gary Lamberson as well. Who remembers Mr. Mooney rubbing his hands together in the front of the cafeteria and auditorium before cupping them together and yelling "All Right!" before the important announcement du jour...

Interesting journey back to your elementary school, especially since Tom Mooney principal/superintendent was my dad and Emil Hudock was my roommate's dad. Love the soundtrack.

+Carol Kemp I totally forget his first name was Emil! What was he doing in Lebanon Township, NJ? That's what I wonder about everybody who taught at our grade school. Or your father! Whom I found slightly intimidating, which I guess was his job! Anyway, thanks for your comment, Carol Kemp!

You are very brave to write and say this brutally honest, painful stuff out loud. Though I appreciate the mostly dark humor you wove into this piece, I do not understand why some people in the audience laughed so loudly at some of the most poignant moments. Is it their need to announce how well they get it? Just nervous laughter? When someone is sharing their deepest truth and pain, I think we should challenge ourselves to just listen-- deeply and mindfully. Thank you for sharing this.

I meant to say Liv Tyler, not Liv Ullmann. Yikes! Imagine Liv Ullmann as Bruce Willis's daughter. . .

Thank god or whatever that Dave had people like you since his parents were so absent from his life. Maybe the funeral wasn't what he wanted, but he would have loved this eulogy. Have you ever forgiven yourself for not being there when he died? Did this help?
