I was asking because I am waiting for my golden. It’s currently 30 days old and barely has feathers poking on the wings and tail. Would you say that’s normal at that age? Just was wondering how old this one was so I could compare.

We give as much as they can eat. I normally feed out about 1 heaped cup per bird per day in total and I do this all year not just breeding season and this keeps them in great condition all year, and considering many pairs laid multiple clutches in a season. So 2 heaped cups per pair per day. I do not measure each component or as a total we just use a scoop that equals one cup. I make sure they all have enough food that they do not eat everything completely and food is always available. The food is mostly soaked/sprouted seed and bean mix (70%), pellets (5%) and fruit and veges and nuts (25%). This is approximate breakdown I use. You can also add things like milk thistle, grasses, bird friendly flowering branches or branches with fruit (eg guava), palm seeds, etc. I hope this helps and thanks for watching our channel. They are in the US and you would have to find a supplier in the US. I think they can travel across states but I am not sure what procedures apply.

yes the golden conure is mostly related to the red shouldered macaw Diopsittaca. The Golden Conure had its name changed from Aratinga Guarouba to its own genus Guaruba guarouba in 1830. and I agree they should be known as Golden Macaw rather than Golden Conure.

Yes jardines can speak well. I like jardines because they talk quietly not like cockatoos and amazons etc that can become loud. they dont mimic as much as other more talkative birds either.

Sometimes a hen does not start incubating until 2-3 eggs are already laid. We incubate from day 0 and in this case we can normally see by day 3 but can clearly see by day 4.

@Golden Conures Australia I think something went wrong I cracked it open and the egg yolk was like in a bunch of little spots instead of one solid yolk

Golden conures are amazing, and they are incredible as pets.

They love to have company so I would recommend a friend. It does not have to be another golden conure if you are just keeping him as a pet. You can always get a smaller conure (green cheek) or macaw (hahns), but in this case I would recommend another male so that you do not have mixed breeding. If he is not a pet then of course a female golden conure.

It depends on the pairing whether a male or female, just putting two birds together does not ensure that they will bond. It will depend the individual birds.

It takes 1 year or so more to get the bird, $4500/bird, and 4 months going to the store daily to bond with new bird. California law doesn't allow me to take bird home before 5 months old.

No it's not from fatty liver disease. And always fed the best diet including sprouts, fruits and vegetables. Some Jardines do have more colour even to the point where the bird is nearly all orange.

I am sorry I have not encountered this situation. Maybe he or she has had a scare but I am not a vet and in any case even a vet would want to see the bird personally to diagnose any health issues.
