They could have easily made a turn-based Star Wars RPG, and it would’ve been far more interesting than yet another generic open-world game. Creativity and boldness seem to be fading. No one is taking risks anymore, which is why some of the most innovative games come from indie developers on platforms like Steam. They aren’t afraid to create something unique that we didn’t even know we wanted. This decline in creativity is also why, in my opinion, games started losing their charm after the Xbox 360 era. Sure, graphics improved, but fun and originality began to take a back seat. Look at Red Dead Redemption 2-it’s got an amazing story and gameplay, but it was made by a company with vast resources and strict standards. That’s not something most developers can replicate. Studios need to explore niche genres and try something different. The market doesn’t need more open-world games or multiplayer shooters that all feel the same. There's rarely enough distinction to make me want to invest time or money, let alone actually enjoy the experience. Even making these games free-to-play doesn’t solve the problem. We need fresh ideas, not just the same old formulas. Right now, everything feels too safe and predictable, and the lack of risk-taking is stifling creativity. Companies should seriously consider hiring gamers to contribute ideas, but not just those who stick to mainstream titles like Call of Duty, League of Legends, Fortnite, or FIFA. The majority of players in those communities tend to be indifferent to innovation or creativity. They’re perfectly content to buy and play the same formulaic games over and over, often with little to no significant changes. These players aren’t typically pushing for something fresh.. they’re satisfied with more of the same. To truly inspire new and creative games, studios need to tap into the perspectives of gamers who seek out unique and innovative experiences. People who explore different genres, appreciate storytelling, and understand the potential for games to break boundaries are the ones who can offer fresh, transformative ideas. These are the voices that could help push the industry out of its comfort zone and into more daring, original territory. You can't just resell me the same chocolate bar with a new packaging. This is probably a great deal for Rocksteady. They get 50 million upfront to develop the game for a single console, reducing both development time and cost. Then, they can use the money earned from the PS5 sales to port it to PC and possibly Xbox if it does well. Remember Rocksteady is currently hemorrhaging money because of Suicide Squad, so they probably couldn't afford to make the game without this deal and PC ports are actually really expensive and time consuming to make because they don't have set hardware or software which causes compatability issues.
