I've seen riders in C who were faster than B and some A riders. Jeez, I'm faster than some A riders at some tracks but B or C is fine for me. Wouldn't get puffy about it.

Great! How was the camera mounted?
@raucousr6417 жыл бұрын
It was on a bent/cut peice of steel rod with a hole drilled in each end to mount on the front fairing stay bolt. hope that was a clear explenation!!

Thanks man, its pretty insane how fun it is and how cool the community is. you should get out on the track! Looks like you have a ZX, and that's perfect! Ride safe and I hope to see you in the pits or better yet, on the track one day!!!! Ride safe and keep up the motologs man, good stuff!!

I'm in my second year racing with the AFM but I've only hit the rounds at Sonoma so far. Round 4 this weekend will be my first time at T-hill, so I'm studying all the on-board footage i can find: holy hell you've gotten faster in the last two years. Any pointers for a first timer at this track?

Is your speedometer reading wrong or in km? Maybe it's just the camera. Either way looks like fun :)
@raucousr6417 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul! the speedo should be pretty accurate and is in MPH, the gearing on the bike was/is stock. Its a BLAST and is addicting! i was having so much fun that i took the leap to start racing in the AFM! But if you want to stick to track days its an absolutely amazing time and the community is so cool!
@paulschalkham49407 жыл бұрын
Raucous R6 thanks I'm getting my R6 sometime next month. I'm 16 about to be 17. But don't worry because i ride a yz250 two stroke right now and I ride my friends 250 ninja. 250 isn't enough power for me
@raucousr6417 жыл бұрын
Right on man, a yz250 is plenty of bike! you will love the R6, it has peaky power similar to that of a two stroke in the sense that it is a dog at anything less than 10,000 RPM! Ride safe and have fun, that 600 will be a very different animal compared to the ninja 250 especially on the street, they pile on the speed alarmingly fast by comparison!! You will have a big leg up coming from a yz250 though!!
@kdz6667 жыл бұрын
Nice video - nice ride. Did you mess up qualifying? You are clearly faster than a lot of the guys who started ahead of you!
@raucousr6417 жыл бұрын
Thanks kdz666, the AFM grids the riders by the points they have made during the season. I jumped into the middle of the season so I had to start at the rear or near the back of the pack. I get to carry those points to the 2017 season so that means better starting positions and I will hopefully be running a full season!!! Lets get some wins!!! :)

My leathers showed up today, picking up a track bike wed, but looks like next track day at thunder hill wont be till the 19th sep. Cant wait to get out there but i dont think my first laps will be looking anything like this, I guess I see soon enough. Not sure what part of 49 you live by but im up in Sonora, Ca....
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
Awesome man, there is no pressure to be riding at any level except the pressure you put on yourself! (unless you try and ride A group your first time out lol). What kind of track bike are you going to get? I would just ride out to 49 often, and would ride the Auburn to Placerville route or vice versa, its a nice road!
@performancebasedheatingair80068 жыл бұрын
Well I know for sure my first few laps and probably not till end of day will i try to push it harder. For 1 I got a new bike ive never rode and it is set up for track with 1/4 turn gas. Ill be putting new C3 Dunlaps on it. And the ohlins suspension was set up for 140 pound guy so i have to put on new springs. The track bike is a 2005 GSXR1000, has every Mod available, supersport engine build, everything i know of it has. was a AFM instructors B bike. Ive been riding R1 for many years....Its gonna be a Fkn blast to finally get out there and let loose from corner to corner without concern of road debris, other cars, and cops!!!!!
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
That's jumping in with both feet for sure! sounds like you have experience on liter bikes and that GSXR will, no doubt, be a handful! But it sounds like its pretty well hooked up and you are doing right thing by getting it set up for you. Enjoy man, its honestly the most fun you can have with your pants on lol Ride safe and I hope you have a great first track day!!!!
@performancebasedheatingair80068 жыл бұрын
I went last weekend to west track, was a fkn blast, rode C on sat and bumped to A on Sun. heading back out on the 19th for east track....Im hooked now lol
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
Dude that's RAD! C to A in one weekend is pretty baller! I'm happy to hear you had a safe weekend and had fun first track day. I went to a "Fun Track Dayz" Thill east day on Monday and it was awesome, that's another great organization. You will love east, its fast fast fast, 8 is bumpy, 9 is blind and 11 is slow so ease into throttle on that big liter bike! Enjoy and ride safe!
@joaoreis10798 жыл бұрын
Bought a 2013 R6 for trackday usage and going to sell my 2001 GSXR 1000 because it was getting very hard to drive for my skills... but after watching your video I almost pissed my pants!!! do I have to drive as hard as you do?? what is "Group B" ? I have had several track days with that Gixxer but I am not used to 600cc motorcycles for a long time: i have noticed that the R6 only has power abover 10.000 rpms and I see you keep it above that range as much as you can... but it looks a bit scary !!!! : ) do you run on 1st gear on that circuit? again, great driving - probably one of the best R6 videos on track I have seen around KZbin !
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
Joao, The R6 is probably one of the most popular choices for a track tool, so don't worry, you are in good hands haha! B group is for experienced riders and people who have been on the track before but not running a VERY fast pace (A group), so don't worry, if your track day organizer is anything like "Z2 track days" they will have a beginner group (C group) so you can learn in a non threatening environment (or they should)!!! At Thunder Hill raceway here in northern California the slowest corner is turn 11 and I think thats a 2nd gear corner for me, don't worry too much about keeping it above 10,000 RPM's, riding on the track, you will naturally want more than the R6 can give below 10,000 RPM's so you will find yourself holding gears longer and generally riding at much higher RPM's than on the street! As for my riding, thank you! I am a LONG ways away from being fast compared to a long long list of local track riders (or any of the AFM guys lol) but I'm learning! Have fun with that 2013 R6, and ride your own pace, no one will/can be mad at you for riding at your comfort level, so long as you hold your line lol!!
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
+That Knight Nope, you will have a hard time breaking traction while learning, if you do it would most likely be due to choppy mid corner throttle. At least in my experience as a beginner, I don't brake late enough to be in danger of locking up the front, and I am not aggressive enough on the throttle to need a TCS, especially on a 600. that's just what I have experienced and observed of myself tho!

So I just watched your video again.I have to ask, have you had track training somewhere else, because it doesn't look like this is your first rodeo.Your speeds are up there.Where you at Thunderhill on Sunday?
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
I did make it out and was pretty bummed it rained so much. Sucks that had to be your first day out there. that was honestly my first time around any track on a bike. That was back when I rode street quite a bit and had miles and miles of hw49, stumpy meadows and Napa roads under my belt. did you at least get the first dry session in yesterday?!
@MotoGuy75aaa8 жыл бұрын
How much extra fuel would you recommend bringing to the track? Any other advice for a first time tracker?
@raucousr6418 жыл бұрын
I bring a 5gal can an have never been too close to running out, just be sure you top off your bike before you get there. I would just get there early so you aren't in a rush, and be sure to ride at your own pace. other than that, bring tools, a canopy, and any spare parts you have. and take advantage of the Z2 instructors!
@MotoGuy75aaa8 жыл бұрын
My first trackday will this coming Sunday (20 Mar 2016), hope it is as cool as this one looks.It will be with Zoom Zoom Trackdays at Thunderhill.What was your top speed on the straights?

Awesome video.May I ask what kind of camera you are using and what the settings were?Did you have the camera mounted on your chest?Does the GPR stabilizer help out much?I have been thinking about one for my 2007 Kawasaki ZZR-600.
@raucousr6419 жыл бұрын
MotoGuy75aaa Thank you! It's a Gopro 4 Black edition on 1080p "Wide" . The mount was one of the sticky Go Pro brand mounts but it was mounted to the plastic tank cover so it shakes a ton. I LOVE the GPR stabilizer, if you ever get an unsteady head shake or tank slappers like I did on the street, the GPR will solve it completely. It did leak its oil out after a summer of riding, but GPR serviced it for free and in a timely manor and it has been trouble free since. Side note, I did try the camera mounted on my chest that day and the video was nice and smooth but it got in the way a little bit when tucked as I'm sure you can imagine. Ride fast... Er, safe!! :P
