My father worked on final assembly of this bomber at the Glenn L. Martin plant in Baltimore, Maryland. This is the only example of the 187 I have seen. Perhaps there are other undiscovered wrecks, but all these aircraft were scrapped more than 70 years ago. One weakness in the Baltimore's design was the isolation of the crew compartments. The pilot and bombardier were separated from each other and from whoever was in the aft fuselage. That may explain why the pilot was able to exit from the cockpit while anybody in the aft fuselage would be trapped with the only exit underneath the aircraft.
