There's a second reason. Remember they gave him the wood piece as the symbol of him being the official Shinigami substitute, and how it was monitoring him? It also keeps his reiatsu under control so he won't go berserk by accident and destroy the town. That's why it had reiatsu stored. Remember all the high ranking Shinigamis had a seal on them that would keep their power partially sealed for the same reason. Ichigo was basically being helped by that, so he had to learn more about controlling his power rather than simply increasing it. Tho, his hollow mask was outside that, since it's hollow powers and not Shinigami, hence why it was so strong but he completely struggled to control it. His reiatsu control was terrible. In the end he had to spend several years inside that tunnel with no concept of time, with his dad to learn how to control his reiatsu first so he could unleash the final getsuga tensho.

@ Fullbring had more potential but the pacing was terrible. For example we only learn Ginjo’s motivations from off hand comments. Captains coming out of nowhere to restore Ichigo’s powers make the arc feel pointless. A slower arc with way more buildup and time to flesh out people’s motivations would have been better. I don’t hate it. I’m sure with TYBWA animation rewrite it could be better. But that’s not going to happen and as it stands it has structural issues that make it feel incomplete. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying Bount is better content wise, I’m saying it’s got better pacing where we actually learn the motivations of the Chapter Black analogue antagonists.

@@qwerty8832 my points are opinions, but they are based on what happened. Ichigo loses his FB powers before the end of the arc and the captains literally come out of nowhere to give him his shimigami powers and said they wanted to do that all along. Had they did it any earlier the arc wouldn’t have happened. It felt pretty arbitrary. Ginjo just tells Ichigo that he was a substitute soul reaper and that he hates soul society in their final battle. That information isn’t really known or talked about until before Ichigo fights him. Ginjo’s Chapter Black analogue is Sensui who was a spirit detective before the YYH protagonist, Yusuke. Unlike in the FB arc, we learn that information earlier in the story so that we can see Yusuke and Sensui as foils and actually understand why the villain became a villain. It literally felt like Kubo was ripping off the best parts of Chapter Black without understanding what made them good. Happy to disagree about whether this is good or bad storytelling, which I acknowledge is an opinion, but this is what happened.

@ there was plenty of stuff to signify that there was a substitute before ginjo and it was hinted at for the entire arc that he would be getting his powers back, a lot of what you have been saying is just evident that you have not properly watched it as there is just information you are straight up ignoring

White made it difficult but that’s because of his hollowfication interfering not because he couldn’t handle his bankai itself

I would also explain how bad this arc is and that no development can happen since this arc isn't Cannon. You can also mention the author didn't write it and doesn't intend for anything here to be taken into account. Tbh he should read the manga.

@@djrdowns10 the series already explained why ichigo can be both Quincy and hollow because his human side balances out his hollow side and and his soul reaper side balances out his Quincy side making his soul stable. It was already explained that’s how masaki survived hollowfication because ishin basically balanced the two sides of her with his spirit energy. The series does actually have a cohesive explanation you just didn’t follow it.

@Thegavonator no that's not cohesive, that's a cop out. It's ok plot armor is in every anime. But to be frank, the difference between Quincy and human is so vague. Quincy, in most cases, are human, so that explanation doesn't work. The only thing you proved is that bleach still hasn't made it clear what exactly is the difference between humans and Quincy. Quincy have been shown to be humans that can draw out their spirit energy, nothing more. So the fact that being human has any role to play is actually quite laughable. Ichigo should've died becoming a hollow, even the in world explanation doesn't cover that.

@@djrdowns10 it seems you are uneducated, quincy are a "sub-race" of humans only those with the blood of a quincy are able to use quincy powers, Ichigo is not affected by the hollowification because of a different reason, quincies have no natural resistance to hollows meaning that if you are not a full blooded quincy or something like a shinigami you have more resistance to hollows this is in addition to his hollow powers only being a part of his shinigami powers and not a full separate part, with that last part we don't know how other visords are affected by hollowification and they would likely be different from Ichigo as his powers are one in the same while for normal shinigami they had trouble because the powers were invading them rather than always have been a part of it.

@@506Edai full fingers are humans that absorbed hollow spirit energy usually because their mother was attacked by a hollow while pregnant. That means they have natural hollow spirit energy that balances out with their human side to give them essentially hollow powers they can control.

The fullbringers got their powers because their mothers were attacked by hollows when they were pregnant I'm pretty sure, giving them that power.
