hey man, new to fly fishing. what size leader would you recommend for this?
@BertsOutdoorAdventures5 ай бұрын
I was using 4lb test tippet leader. It's best to have a variety of different sizes though to match the size of fish you encounter. Good luck and have fun!

The good news is you caught a wild trout, which while small is usually more difficult and desirable than catching a stocked trout, most people would say. The bad news is you're not likely to catch many fish the way you're fishing. It's almost impossible to fish a dry fly downstream in a small stream the way you're fishing. You want to be fishing upstream. For one reason the trout will be less likely to see you coming (they face upstream). For another you'll be more likely to get a natural drift with your fly. Cast it upstream, let it float naturally with the current back downstream.
@BertsOutdoorAdventures5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the advice. I've had a bunch of people tell me the same thing and plan on working upstream in the future. I appreciate the advice.

It’s a beautiful spring fed lake. Only reason that Trout can survive in Florida is the colder water temperatures from the springs.

It looks like there are string lights throughout the park. Was the park open and lit up after dark when this was filmed?

They were stringing up lights for Christmas, but we were not there late enough to see them.

sick spot bud. a friendly tip that helped me progress more this year than the previous 5. take your mtb and race bmx tracks. they gave us a series of our own. it will help more than the pump track with cornering and jumping and pumping
