Why do l get the feeling that David Foster is what George Gershwin would have been had fate dealt him a better hand? God gave us David Foster so this kind of talent would be available for us to enjoy and be inspired by. Something very special is working through David Foster. He is extraordinary.

Should have arranged this one as a duet with Eddi Reader. Still a good song and not typical Big Country.

I know I’ll probably get slaughtered for my opinions here, so here goes. THE best version!!! Gino rules! What an absolutely phenomenal song!! Ross and Gino knocked it out of the park with this one. This song alone is better than practically anything I’ve heard on pop radio in ages, never mind the rest of his repertoire which is just as good. The art of quality song writing now is in the toilet! Maybe there’s a few good artists really producing quality stuff but they are few and far between. This is a perfect song in every way. Melody, top notch musicianship, lyrics, vocal performance, chord progression is unreal!! Guitar solo is ridiculously tasteful and wicked guitar tone. He should be filling stadiums and he’s not, but there are so many current “artists” who are filling stadiums who have no business being there. There’s no justice in this world. With a few rare exceptions most modern pop “music” (I use that term very lightly) royally sucks! And on top of crap songs, the sterile, un-human, un-organic, ZERO human feel, ZERO heart and soul, massively over produced recordings of the past 10-20 years that no human actually sounds like are seriously depriving the kids and young adults growing up now of a great musical experience of guys like Gino. Ugghhh!

My wife walked down the aisle to this song, it was our favorite song because I used to play it on the piano for her when we met as teenagers. This song has been my life song I guess you could say. The one song that brings back so many memories from a time when life was simple. David Foster is my hero :)

Yes, she was married to Michael O’Shay. That is her voice. My great grandmother Alice Jones Wientge owned the Wientge School of Dramatic Expression in St. Louis in the 1930s and trained her niece, Virginia Jones, Stage name Virginia Mayo. She was discovered while performing on stage at the Muny in Forest Park St. Louis. I met her once.

Wonder why this song is also called "Sign of Life" instead...? I have Amazon Unlimited Streaming and this is the 8th song and it is listed as "Sign of Life"... Did Amazon just mess up the spelling..? A huge difference though. I have the original CD bought in the 80s and I need to take a look...
@fletchbg Жыл бұрын
Spotify has done the same thing, and you can also find this song under the title of "Signs of Life" here on KZbin. My guess is that someone with a vested interest in the band got tired of not having it available on digital/streaming and circumvented some copyright or other legal issues by submitting the whole album with different titles. They also used some obviously thrown-together, lo-fi artwork for the album cover, completely different from the CD/LP. If I had to guess who'd a-done this, my money'd be on Stewart

This song from The Secret of my Sucess transport me to a very nostalgic moment in my life, to the times when my recently deceased mother was still very young and I was trying to work at university, just like the character in the film looking for something . I had the same difficulties and doubts about my first job and that brings back many memories of my mother accompanying me in this dream by my side, even watching the movie with me, I was still very young and full of plans. I get emotional seeing and hearing again.
