I removed the entire top of my console , 3 fasteners. Took less than two minutes. Then you can work on it without drilling.

I bought the hard one on Amazon….I completely broke away that plastic white base and the plastic piece snapped right in perfectly…..2007 F150……..even if the clips break in place just push them through and snap in the new plastic piece.

Great video, thank you! My '04s has been pulling up for years. I just made the mistake of drilling two of the back holes on the wrong side, so a couple extra.

Thanks again! I just refastened my pad to the frame using UV Light Glue. I started with corners and edges and eventually the whole perimeter, no staples used.
@harleygould72553 жыл бұрын
So, they apparently changed the locations of the stupid clips every single year, and you can waste a whole day trying to find and keep the clips, but frankly, my time is better served simply ordering a replacement padded cover. I'm not real happy about carving up the piece I need to hold the pad down, as well as parts of the rest of the flip seat.

Sorry to hear about your experience. My video applies to the 2004 model. I don't know about any other years.
@scottchristian45493 жыл бұрын
Mine has been lifting up for a few years. I remember seeing a replacement on eBay a few years ago but it was pricey so I waited. Now an ABS plastic replacement is available on Amazon or eBay that can be had for less than $20. Different colors available. For that price it's worth a try, but it's not a soft vinyl feel. Once I have it I may try to repair the original.

Electric stapler?

Man great video ! I’d have to say the stapler idea was amazing! Tried the hand one didn’t have enough to get through that plastic. So went to Lowe’s and got an air one with t50 staples worked like a charm. Great vid helped a lot ! Had to pause it a few time cause you wouldn’t sit still haha ! Thanks man !

Don't fall for this! Chances are it will not work!!! THEN YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH A CONSOLE WITH NO PAD! Plastic breaks, staples will not go through it or it will not stay in place after!

I guess I and others were lucky to have used the right staples and staple gun. Mine did not suffer a single crack or broken clip. Sorry to hear that your repair was unsuccessful.

Thanks for this video. It made this job so much easier. I used Permabond 102 Instant Adhesive instead of staples. Hoping it holds up well.

What gauge are the staples you used? Were they 18?
@denvergraham73874 жыл бұрын
Actually are they 20 or 22 gauge
@padredon74 жыл бұрын
Don't know the gauge. They were Senco brand 3/8" x 1/4" long upholstery crown staples.
@DustinDavis4 жыл бұрын
I got the backing off by drilling the holes. I only broke one clip. :) But then I tried to staple. My hand stapler did nothing. I got out my pneumatic stapler and it broke the plastic all to pieces. :( Not sure what to do now.

Super glue worked surprisingly well

I am trying desparately to find a video showing how to disassemble the entire cupholder and interior of the console? Did you just use a pry tool to pop off the cushiony cupholder surround?
@padredon75 жыл бұрын
You need to peel back the edges of the padding and remove it. After removing the padding, follow the instructions in the video to remove the backing structure that attaches to the console. I have no advise on how to disassemble the rest of the console.

Great video I have a late 2004 F250 with this same problem but when I got the pad off I discovered the clip pattern to be different than yours so I went to the video of the 2001 F250 and that's what I had. So there is at least two different clip patterns so everyone needs to determine which one they have. I warmed every thing up and tacked the pad to the plate with supper glue then warmed the plate up good and stapled the edges figuring that warming the plastic would keep it from breaking when stapled. It came out great and now looks like new. Thankyou for your video.
