This was actually a very good fencing scene.. I'm from the school of "The best sword fight in movie history was The Mark of Zorro 1940", but this was very good.....right up until he jumped out the window and crashed into the boat!

No antibiotics or realistic surgical healthcare back then..... a flesh wound alone could mean amputations or death. Average life expectancy was horrifically short even without exposing oneself to the risks of a swordfight.

Ya gotta love the editing in the films. Perfect blue, cloudless sky to thick solid cloud back to perfectly clear looking up with nothing in sight other than the blanket of grey cloud in the nexr scene. Just like Top Gun. One minute flying over the open sea, suddenly mountains and desert in the background with alternating clear and cloudy skies.
@maxbrazil37124 күн бұрын
"Tog Gun" and "The Right Stuff" are the type of film where you have to put your brain in park and just enjoy the goofy ride. The film "The Right Stuff" schit all over historical accuracy to make the film a semi-comedy, but it's still a good movie.

This video seems to be about what that incident was really about and the film used and "moulded" into their scene. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npLCiIafiK6Fis0si=VoXuwvUlkYbpWvvq

A realistic sword fight wouldn't be good for a movie. It would be over in about 30 seconds. and 25 of those seconds would them staring at each other in absolute fear. Then one of them moves, either one makes a misstep and stab stab stab stab and its over.
@maxbrazil371214 күн бұрын
Where did you glean this bit of historical information?
@joshstabo693114 күн бұрын
@@maxbrazil3712 by reading. If you want to put it into perspective just watch an Olympic fencing match where the fear of death is removed. A point is usually earned within the first 3 seconds. Back then if you didn’t have heavy armor and got in a sword fight that exchange didn’t last long. If both opponents hd heavy armor it turned from a sword fight into a wrestling match as both opponents would eventually drop their primary weapon of choice and try to gain top mount and stab the other in either the arm pit or through the eye hole with their dagger. Realistic sword fights would not be good enough for a “cinematic moment” but would have been one of the most traumatizing things you could witness if both opponents had heavy armor on.

Only 2 things would happen from Brock in this scenario. 1) Yanking your very bones out of your body the moment you put your hand on his weapon. 2) Give you props for following through and taking the weapon from a dude capable of yanking your very bones out of your body but he would also warn you to never do that again EVER 😅
