We had this system in one of our homes in the late 70's. My mom loved it! Not really sure why it didn't become popular. The suction was really strong, the hose reached everywhere and everything went into a container in the garage.

I just got the job that I'm going to put these in for the first time. I've done quite a few of the 5000s so far, but not only is this better, but I believe you've just bested the competition as well...

That is great to hear! Please send us any feedback you have once you've installed these new valves!

This sounds like a good idea. BUT, how do you store 50 feet of hose in the wall? Where does the hose go? Is there a reel installed in the wall? This sounds like Harry Potter magic storing 50 feet of hose in 8 feet of space. Some explanation and cut-away drawings would be great. Also, I have to wonder what 50 feet of hose does to the amount of suction and volume of air flow. I notice that the fitting on the end of the hose looks smaller than traditional vacuum hoses. That would boost air flow speed while reducing volume.

Great question! The hose retracts back into the PVC vacuum tubing installed in the wall. The installation of the PVC tubing is typically done on new construction homes before sheetrock, but the system can also be retrofitted in existing homes by installing the tubing in either a crawl space or attic. For carpet you can use many different types of turbine powered carpet heads and for best results you can get the battery powered carpet heads they offer.

I had a central vac for 8 yrs in my previous house. The house was 20 yr old which had the central vac built in during construction. It was the kind where we had to carry the hose from outlet to outlet. I loved the system, never needed any maintenance, no issues ever. There are more maintenance issues in handheld vacuums than central vacs. I would highly recommend central vac over any handheld vacuum anytime!
@dashriprock57207 ай бұрын
FOD? Not so.. I had one I'm our old home. It's basically an industrial vacuum in you house that lasts a life time. You can't compare the suction of a top of the line shop vac. They work! And really don't maintenance. Other than the sound of the suction they are silent on the user end

I've got a preexisting central vac system in my home. This wont be easy to retrofit in. Id have to change the tubing all the way back to the cannister, right?
@HideAHose9 ай бұрын
You would need to add additional pipe runs with our sweep fittings in order to store the hose. Available attic or crawl space can be used to add these pipe runs, which could then be connected to your existing system.

@Kevin23412 жыл бұрын
You get a central vacuum unit installed somewhere in your house, usually in the garage, that stores all the dirt. They'll have either a canister you take out or have a bag you throw out and replace.
