I was at that Barrie vs Windsor game and they are so right.. to the point where alot of people in the front rows got hit in the head with the boxes.

17:30 I have always thought that the reason people watch Steve is the same reason people read stories, watch movies, play games and what have you. It's emotion. We are addicted to emotion and feelings. Steve wear his heart in his sleeve and shows a lot of emotion and it's easy to vicariously feel those emotions watching him even if you're not a leaf fan. The same way we feel emotions of the main character of a story we FEEL what Steve is feeling because he is so good at expressing those feelings. It's an empathetic issue.

I'm a former TSN and Sportsnet employee -- I'm not in the industry anymore. But I would say morale and toxicity when i worked at Sportsnet was probably the worst place I have ever worked. It was sad to work somewhere you had dreamed of working and being part of hockey at lunch with talent...but being beaten down by management and the work environment. I was glad Steve is running his own thing and kicking ass.

When Steve talked about looking up at a burnt lightbulb and realizing it was his job as a boss to change that bulb it reminded me of my little brother. My father started a mechanical contracting business when we were boys; schools, hospitals, apartment buildings...stuff like that. Eventually, he retired and I took over, later my little brother joined me in the office. One day some of the guys called from a job site and told my brother about a problem they were having that they couldn't figure out. My brother turned to me and asked me who we could call for an answer and I had to break it to him. "Us. We are who gets called. There is no one else. We will have to just figure it out." He looked at me slightly alarmed as he realized that all the decisions he had been requesting from the office for the past while had been made by me. "Every time? We have to solve every problem?" I just nodded. Sometimes you just have to figure it out. It becomes a mindset. Not that you know everything, just that you do not automatically look for someone else when a problem arises, before at least taking a shot yourself.

I owe Steve a ton for how he's helped me in my life. He helped me love hockey again after losing that love due to bullying from a group of online fans and he was especially helpful in making my grandfather's final months as comfortable as possible with his advice on how to handle things. His passion for the Leafs and hockey is awe inspiring and he's an incredible person.

1:25:30 - well you already have a smug producer that does not like the Leafs, and how is that working out? He is like the man in the shadows who exaggeratedly claps slowly and loudly whenever we are all boisterously celebrating a Leaf goal or win. And an ominous and noxious dust begins to rise within the midst of our collective joy….like a shiny apple that turns sour and rotten within your very grasp…at the moment you’ve already bitten into but a single morsel. Yeah. Wouldn’t it be great if you had an actual family member who was JUST LIKE THAT?

I'm just a casual hockey fan but Dangle and SDPN has totally reeled me in because it reminds me of chatting with my old friends. We were each smart in our own ways. But I have zero hockey intelligence. So I'd just sit back and listen and be fascinated that we all watched the same game although they seemed to pick out so many more details about it than I could. The older network sport TV version of this had its flow interrupted so often that the conversations tended to end abruptly without consensus. But most of my hockey conversations among friends ended up with some sort of consensus and appreciation for the other party's opinion, which Dangle/SDPN has and which I didn't think I'd appreciate as much as I do. It's so refreshing in 2024, particularly online.
