I just gave up on auto focus a couple of years ago, I was losing so much footage. Now I use auto to get focus but pull the manual focus button back on the lens before I hit record. Quickly double check that I stll have focus and then monitor focus with my right had little finger on the manual focus ring. Most shots the birds are moving across the field and rarely have to adjust manually. I use one of the manual focus aids which turns everything in focus pink and allows me to see my depth of field clearly. Give it a try. Thanks for your work love it.

Hey Andy! That's a shame, i certainly have some 'improvements' i would bring in were i the chairman, alot od which are on quite small things and some catering towards a younger generation (next generation of paying members), and things like making hides actually useful (closer to water level, some feature near or in front of them) in an attempt to eliminate some of the 'baron' space and wasted hides at many RSPB reserves. Where do you tend to go now days?

Back in london (north) and having to re-learn reserves and spots in cambridge & essex that I like and are worth the longer drives to. Devon doesn't sound too bad. You may even get the booted eagle that's been seen?

agree with other comments, great to see this one pop up in the notifications, really enjoyed it, I like the focus on the divers at the beginning, they are great birds, also love the sheer excitement coming out of the encounter with the sea eagles. The footage at around @9.18 is highly intriguing, looks more like a Golden Eagle than a White-tailed, did you think you had seen a Golden? It could just be a Buzzard of course...
@ChrisHarwoodOutdoors10 күн бұрын
Thanks alot! That's a really good point... I've just looked at 100% zoom on video and weirdly it looks like both a golden and sea eagle... Heading left it looks like a golden and then when it turns it brightens up and looks like one of the sea eagles that was there... Will look and see if there are any photos I can zoom in more - i just assumed it was one of the white taileds as they were hovering along that ridge, hope i'm wrong!

The issue I have with Sheppey is transport. I don't drive so I'm reliant on public transport and my own two feet to get anywhere. I live in London and there are two places I love to go, Dovercourt and Walton on the Naze. My main interest is Wading birds so in the winter the Essex coast is fantastic. On the impossible list for me is Fetlar on Shetland, it's the best place in the UK to see Red necked Phalarope but it's an absolute nightmare to get to

Hi Chris, I like your videos a lot, so I hope you don't mind this feedback but I think the geese around 1.40 are White-fronted Geese; if you look at them carefully you can see bars across their bellies, white flashes around their bills and they don't have big white patches on their wings like Greylags. There was a large flock of these on the Isle of Sheppey over the winter.
