Does anyone know where the part at 2:02 is from? Is it a movie? It sounds like Spanish or Italian to me

Frank Gari wrote this music. It was used in several cities with easily editable lyrics. Some more examples can be found in this compilation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZOpm5xnp7BkfLs I absolutely lost it when I heard this for the first time in that compilation, but thanks to this comment section, I now know that in the 80s when this was written, you could walk around in Detroit without getting mugged.

What on earth are you talking about. The 80's and the 90's were the most dangerous time in the city. I've lived in this area my whole life since 1983. No one but outsiders thinks it was better then, but America is the slow kid in class, and no one caught up until 2014 when bankruptcy happened. Things were already improving by then. Today violent crime is heavily linked to incidents involving drugs and prostitution, or coming to the city acting like your a gangbanger with the gangbangers. In the 1980's, thats when you could have been shot randomly. People have it the other way around.

This scene is so perfect. That line, those dead ass eyes from the kid who doesn't blink, the jaw clench and eyes of Shoresy.

This song and 'Pittsburgh' by Mason Jennings speak some hard truths. Easily companion songs and honestly beautiful as they are brutal.

I don't really know this band, but have heart the name obviously, and listened to this song many times. I may heard others unawares. Does Johnny Marr play on this? I'd sometimes say his sound is unmistakable, yet the service of any musician - including the lyricist or vocalist, which may not be one and the same - is merely to serve the song.

Grew up in a single parent household in poverty. I stole this album from a buddy of mine and laid on the floor of my family’s living room playing it on repeat praying it will all be okay someday. Thank you Isaac, Eric and Jeremiah. Three lost kids making jams for lost kids just like themselves
