No clue what primer you would have used that isnt a sealer. Even the cheapest PVA primer is also a sealer😂 my bet would be that no primer was used at all.
@dfrancopaintingandwallpaper8 күн бұрын
Pva is primer not a sealer not to be used for wallpaper installations.. ok for drywall., NOT ever for wallpaper.

Have you use aqua cote before? What primer were you using? It really made a difference in how smooth that looked. I have been using SW Extreme bond on my cabinets since they are laminate, but my parents have oak and it make the whole kitchen look dated.
@dfrancopaintingandwallpaper18 күн бұрын
We have.. it is kind of a pain in my opinion.. a lot of sanding.. we can roll out a coat of primer get a fan on it and have it dry in 30 min, quick sand and do another coat of primer and it looks great. Much faster much cheaper

We used Emerald Satin in our hallway and bedroom. I think it is a good middle ground between semi and flat. It reflects some light nut it not too crazy. I us a lot of flat in my workplace, but I do have to touch it up regularly (Pro-mar 200). I dream of starting a painting business on the side of my full time job, but you never know one day.. I enjoy your content and I have watched your interview on the SW learning pathway..

How does SW Scuff Tuff compare to ScuffX?
@dfrancopaintingandwallpaper18 күн бұрын
I have not used the two next to one another but we have used both.. the scuff x we used was matte and worked great!! Coverage was awesome and it has held up well. Scuff tuff we used semi gloss- kind of a pain showed roping.. but it is semi gloss so it is what it is.. it sprayed well though!!

@@dfrancopaintingandwallpaper Would one of those been better to use on my cabinets or front door than the Emerald Urethane? Could I go over it with one of those products if the Urethane fails?
@davidpiper30422 күн бұрын
I like using flat paint at our office, but some areas are semi-gloss so would have to paint the whole wall to make it look right. I use Promar 200 flat off white and it covers pretty good over most everything.

I learned this lesson the hard way. I am an amateur DIY and have two bathrooms neither are well ventilated, and the ceilings were quite stained when I moved in. I sanded, primed and top coated; and waiting 48 hours before showering. Within a few months the ceiling were once again stained and looked terrible. So I sought professional advice which I followed, and it worked. This is when I learned about the difference between paint drying time and paint curing time. I re-sanded the ceiling in the first bathroom, primed it with a stain blocking primer and waited 24 hours. Applied a second coat of the primer and waited 4 hours. Then applied two top coats of ceiling white. I then waited 7 days before showering (we used the second bathroom in the meantime). Today the ceilings still look like new. The trick with damp areas is to give it as long as you can.

Do you only spray the damaged areas with primer? Or treat the entire cabinet with primer before paint? Can you use a cabinet paint after primer ?
@dfrancopaintingandwallpaper27 күн бұрын
Thanks for asking!! We do several coats- we treat the immediate area 1st and slow to soak in and dry, sand etc- then when all is ready prime the whole door or item so the primer is uniform color/ sheen/ etc

@dfrancopaintingandwallpaperАй бұрын
Dam gun… they can be a pain.. sticking trigger can be seals that break down, old paint sticking, the packing nut being too tight, we have had the spring get jammed as well..

Gets rid of any and all minor bumps- dust- debris that can get in the paint- makes a smoother finish and helps to make sure paint bonds between coats!
