Hey Robin, Thanks for the honest review. About to start building an Abarth after seeing on in a car park while in Monterosso. Hopefully after test fitting, test fitting and test fitting again it will go together ok.

Other than the decals I did not have any fitment issues with this kit. The fact that the body is held onto the chassis with screws makes it fit better as you dont have to glue it down.

I built this kit two years ago and yes, it does have its challenges. The decals, particularly the trim lines that go around the wheel wells and windshield were a real pain to apply, and cutting them didn't help, so in the end I left on what went on and forgot about the rest. Like you I had some issues with the body and chassis coming together and I thought the body was warped, although I didn't pick up anything like that when I started working on it, and the screws didn't seem to want to go into the chassis. That was a real pain - so close to the end and all this drama crops up! However, this particular model Trans Am is a kit I have wanted since I was a child and despite all the issues I'm still happy with how it turned out.

Hi Robin, that is a nice weekend build kit. I have build mine in Mica Red and just made a bigger exhaust. For the rest stock,and it looks just good as it was ment to be. By overdooing sometimes things,the beauty of the car goes away. I like the real car like it is for 95%. And yours turned out very nice.
I dont understand your critique of the kit!The first thing is,if you payed 50 bucks for that kit youre buying at the wrong shop,Next thing is you didnt put any real effort in building or detailing the kit and the 3rd point is it seems that you think that paint will cover your bad work!And today buying a kit without looking for unboxings or build vids in the net is....i dont have words!And the worst is beeing not able to make the difference between a E190 and a E300 Mercedes!This vid is imature and outright...(dont want to say it)🤣😂
@Droopypower9 ай бұрын
The kit isnt the best out there but tbh you didnt put any effort in it to lift it up to a higher level. The paint is as bad as the kit itself

Think I'm correct in saying that the wheels were like TSW blades on the one's in the movie

The only this kit is good for is the bottompart. Use that, buy at Spotmodel a conversion or transkit for the AMG 190 STATIONWAGON and build it. Then you get a goodlooking nice car. This THING, yes a THING is only good for a paperweight when you put some stones inside. The same as the Fujimi BMW M3, horrible things when they are done. Money wasters

You dont have to paint them, to start with i would just build them and not paint. See if you enjoy the hobby after the 1st few then increase the complexity

Looking great in that color. I thought it was that Nardo grey,wich i don,t like. But this mica style grey is spot on. And yes it is a very pleasant kit to build. I have build 2 now. 1 in pearl white with 10 drops of clear blue mixed through the tamiya bottle and 1 in the new cobra paint from ammo, purple.And they look great. Still got 2 in my stash and the next will be in mica red. But that grey i think i will borrow that from you. This kit is the same as the Lexus LFA and the Mercedes AMG GT3, you cannot go wrong with them.They are falling into a great result without hick-ups.

Sorry this happened to you. Going to be building one of these as a replica of a friend's IRL car. Any tips to improve the fitment? Someone on the forums suggested shaving the undertray at either end but I've not started test fitting myself. Thanks and great job nonetheless!

Hi Robin. It is a goodkit from Fujimi,now and then you get a good one from them.I did mine in Deep Blue Metallic. The only thing was masking of that black above the engine cover,for therest i was a nice quick and easy build. 1 thing. The fog light on the front,i normaly put self adhesive aluminium kitchenfoil or hasegawa mirror foil in it before putting the clearparts in it. That makes it nicer. Also you can use the Molotov chrome pen for that. But you got it realy shiny. Top work on the polishing.

Hi Yes, get those decals down, wait around 24hrs make sure they are dry.. Then Clear Coat, I wait 7 days to let it harden then you can sand with micro mesh, and polish back to a shine... Always gives the best results

I’m thinking about building the doors up with styrene and gluing them shut. The general consensus seems to be that the model was designed to be displayed with everything open. I don’t want mine open, and the interior is the last of the compartments that I care about having opening doors. If I ever get around to building it, that is!
