Thanks Greg for this nice video. We plan on visiting Normandy in April or may ‘25, so this comes at a great time for us 👍. Ps: 🤫 In your description, you wrote Etrate instead of Étretat 😉

Hi there Robert. Thank you for checking out our video. Normandy was simply amazing and the people were incredible as well. We felt so welcomed everywhere we went on our journey. You will love it there. And thank you for pointing out that error. It has since been corrected. haha. Thank you again for watching the video and happy travels. Greg

I have an antique shillelagh or cane which has an engraved metal band on it that says C. F. Collins Kingston 1816. I've done a little research but can only find the name John Collins who was a surveyor of many areas including Kingston in late 1700s (Collins Bay is named after him) died in 1795 I believe. So the cane could perhaps be his sons. Do you have any information on the Collins family in Kingston? Would like to find out who C. F. Collins is...Thanks!

Hi there. Sorry for the delay in responding to you. Thank you for watching the video and that is a very interesting piece of history you have. I have no knowledge at all about C.F Collins but I understand that Queens University has a ton of local archives available for people to view. The other point of contact to learn more about the Collins family may be to reach out to the Kingston Historical Society. They host meetings and release new updates on their website often, so they may be able to provide you with more details regarding your question. Good luck and thank you again for watching the video. Greg

Hi there. I really Appreciate the kind words and thanks for checking out the video! It’s nice to see these kinds of comments from someone who understand the time it takes to piece together a 14 minutes video. Haha. It’s harder then it looks sometimes. All the best in your creative journey. Thanks again. Greg

The video is exceptionally well-crafted. The presentation was flawless. I plan to visit the region in July of next year. My current itinerary only involves visiting Mittenwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. However, I am now considering extending my stay in the region to include Krün, Wallgau, and the Austrian places you mentioned in your video. Will a week be enough? Thank you for the wonderful video once again.

Merry Christmas and thank you for the amazing compliment. I wasn't too sure what we were in for when we were heading to Krun, but I was in awe the moment we pulled into town. You will absolutely love the region especially if you are a nature lover. Thank you again for watching the video and for the kind words. Seeing messages like this motivate me to keep making travel videos. All the best.

Its sad how little Canada supports the first capital though there should be much more then plaques at the historic places we should have much more museums and clear preservation of the history no one seems to be drawn to it as is

Disgusted by your obvious woke left wing nonsense. You clearly and deliberately left out the fact that Sir John A MacDonald, Canadas first Prime Minister and first father of confederation is buried at Cataraqui Cemetery. A truly great man whose reputation will outlive the current (quickly dying) woke nonsense.

If you have a group of 6 or 8, the Abbaye de Longues not far from Bayeaux is a great place for a group to stay and have access to the D-Day sites and other places like Mont St. Michel. Five bedrooms, three baths, a roomy kitchen, dining and living room The hosts are wonderful and the history of the Abbey is interesting to any history buffs.

When I was a student at Queen's, lo these many, many years ago, I lived in Brockington House, and could see the top of Sir John A McDonald's home from my room's window! I also recognize some of the other historic sites, but had no idea there were so MANY of them! Thanks for this trip down "memory lane"!

Great video with lots of information. Thank you. I am planning a trip to that area next spring. Question: Can I see this area without a car? I would like to go without a car if I can.
@greganderson17883 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the message and for checking out the video. You will love this part of Bavaria and to answer your question you certainly can visit without a vehicle . The transit bus services between krun mittenwald and garmisch and I would think there are connections from garmisch to other areas outside of this triangle of towns. We purchased the transit card which covers our trips between the three towns along with wallgau but wallgau is neighbouring krun so you can walk or cycle there easily. The bus was a bit pokey at times but we used it quite a bit during our stay.

I was there in June 2024, and yes, you can absolutely do it without a car! We stayed in Partenkirchen for 9 nights, and our B&B stay included a regional bus pass. Garmisch-Partenkirchen was a nice central base, but we loved Mittenwald and would try to stay there the next time (lodging is much pricier, though!). Conveniently and cost-free we took buses to Mittenwald and Füssen/Neuschwanstein, as well as to cable car stations surrounding Garmisch (though notably not the Zugspitzbahn). The trip to Neuschwanstein took a lot longer by bus - 2 hours vs about 30 minutes by car - but was easy and scenic, and there was no stress over navigation or parking. The one place the bus pass didn’t take us was Reutte, Austria, which was a a direct train ride away. If staying in Krun or Mittenwald you’ll have some connections, but Mittenwald, at least (didn’t get to Krun), would be doable without a car. This video doesn’t mention what we thought was the very best part of Mittenwald - and possibly our entire trip - the Karwendel cable car and hiking at the top. There was still snow at the top, so hiking was limited (couldn’t complete the Panoramaweg circuit), but the views were still jaw-dropping. There’s also an easy via ferrata / Klettersteig (and surely some difficult ones, too) if you have the equipment.
