I got the splitting maul by gb. Its great. Nice handle length and good weight. I stacked 10 tonnes with it this year. I keep a medium weight axe on hand for when its not worth swinging the gb. Very few logs are in my non splittable pile this year after getting the gb

The valve itself can fail as the pot metal used is incredibly poor quality, and the needle and seat are not dependable. Blew out the crank seals in one of mine before I worked out what was going on...

You are a relatively skilled woodcutter among the many art lovers who post videos on KZbin. However, you still have shortcomings. The most important thing is that you don't know a wood splitting technique that would greatly shorten and simplify the splitting. The point is that if we cut the ax into the tree and it doesn't split, then we don't start pulling it out, then cut it again and again, but we lift the tree with the ax and, in reverse, hit the log with the point. Then it splits. Of course, this can only be done with an ax with a regular wooden handle, with a normal locking, not with a Fiskars. Fiskars is not suitable for this, it is a weak toy axe. I was just splitting wood today and had to use this technique many times. Of course, it requires strength, skill, and experience, because if you don't estimate well how well the ax is fixed in the tree, it can fall on your head when you lift it. One more thing: it is recommended to cut wood with gloves to avoid water blisters. I have many more comments to make, but due to lack of space, I will end them now. (My language is not English, the text was made with a translator.)

@@otosmuhold you do it your way, I'll do it mine. The fact is, all wood is not created equal, and all splits differently. Thanks for the comment

I was up in Boone on Thursday. There was a 18 man (medics) unit from the National Guard that was asked to take over for a near by county EMS because they couldn't get around to do the job. The SGT in charge had pictures on his phone of the Chinooks and Blackhawks bringing in supplies. There were only 1000 Regular Army soldiers assigned to the entire disaster. There needs to be 100,000. We need to make sure we let them do their job. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean the NC National Guard isn't there. After all, I wasn't where you were. I wish I could have been.
