You lost me! I was watching the first video and I downloaded LibreCad, and then you went off somewhere else, like you thought I knew where you were going???? What is Engineering Design Graphics (Parent)(EDGRS5111_2020_ALL_MSRS1) When you started to download the template you said "let's go to "learn" ????? What is that?

Hi Neil. Just dropping you this line about how clear and concise your videos are. I've been a long time ACAD user, but my computers out-aged my version of AutoCad. So when I found LibreCAD, it was quite different than my old systems. I tried numerous YT instructors but for various reasons they didn't help me much at all. I'm in Montana USA, so some of the videos were hard to follow, either from difficult accents of instructor, length of lessons or simply confusing instructions. I very much liked the way you broke up the sessions into focus on one area at a time (not too long and complicated), like the detailed use of each of the tools, the ease of following your very light South African accent and the systematic approach to each item. I'm 84, and I don't learn as quickly as I used to, but still active enough to frequently have a need for this program. I gather that you are actually a instructor/teacher and you do an excellent job. Your videos make it easy to 'back up' to catch anything I didn't quite understand the first time. Thank you so much. Best regards, Jack

I am just dipping my toes in LibreCAD with no previous experience with any CAD programs. I tried several LibreCAD tutorials here on YT and these by you Neil are by far the best! You helped me learn how to move multiple entities at the same time and the importance of consistent direction of lines for CNC-routing. After watching just two initial vids I already have all skills needed to modify FPV drone frame designs to suit my needs and implement new ideas! Cheers!

I'm missing the attribute box at the top for angle, copies etc... problem is I don't know the name of it, it changes with each tool.

Never mind, on my version it is always in the confimation box for multiple copies, delete original etc. .....lol

So would it be safe to say that the Parallel function is the same as the offset function in AutoCAD?
@crackwitz6 ай бұрын
No. that's just for lines. There's an actual "offset" tool under "modify". keep watching. I hope you did.

Nice! cool way of doing it analytically. I got curious and wondered how you could generalize the construction of such a setup, on paper, without a compass (although with a compass, it'd be difficult for me). Long story short I found out that the square in this configurations is roughly 0.92 the size of a square that would be r√2, if you were to start with an inscribed square. There might be an elegant solution but that's what I found XD

Wow that is some terrible GUI design! What a useless small box :D I've been looking all over. You actually want this to be on the line, just like Fusion 360 for example.

@@NeilManson thanks for the reply! I watched through the vids and found that episode. What a weird place to hide that little textbox in plain sight 😊I had not seen it. Usually that’s either part of the object or below in a nice wide text field. So thanks, I got it drawn up thanks to your instruction videos.

As I mentioned before in another comment, I appreciate that you made this video for your students, however, it would be amazing if you shared the template file with us. Hello Neil - I came across LibreCAD a few months ago as I was looking for a tool to make drawings which could be used for laser-cutting (model railway buildings, etc.). Being new to CAD, I struggled a bit but worked my way through the basics through trial and error. I have only now found your tutorials and they have opened my eyes to how powerful a tool LibreCAD is - boy, I could have used some of those "snap" options if only I had known what they were for! They will make my life much easier in the future - Many Thanks!

I eM a note, concerning the COPY cmnd to you ... I cannot find it now. Any way, this will save you work. COPY does work; but, no Hatch. That's what confused the issue. Sorry!
@neilmanson99733 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have found hatching to be quite problematic. You can't copy & paste, and you can't edit a hatching. Usually best just to redo the hatching from the start again.
