im planning on controlled cultivation of it in the caribbean, in terms of tenperature and humidity, think it would be successful? conium is recommended between 50-55°C and thats usually a winter night here.

I had a berry today and felt nothing. Ive also eaten fly agaric plenty of times even though that is supposed to be deadly. Any medicine can be harmful if you take too much. Salt can kill you.

Can you use? I guess you would call it the leaves? Can you dry them and use them as tea or cooking herbs?

It was also used in gruit to bitter ale before hops became prevalent. I'm not sure I'd want to drink much of such an ale.

**my children stopped getting sick after an experiment with garlic. We put it on ALL the savory food (powdered more often than fresh cuz its easier), and they stopped getting sick. When we get lazy about it, the normal childhood diseases return. Worth trying. We started with a monthlong experiment and were AWEd. Luckily, I'd had a decade of curing childhood disorders herbally beforehand so all the knowledge to pass on and no need of it in my home :)

Hi Ivywood, very nice video! Could I ask your advice ….My grindelia is about to flower, would you recommend tincturing it before it properly flowers or does it not matter even if it has gone to flower. I only ask because I’ve heard some say it loses some of the sap once it blooms. Obviously I’d like it to be as potent as possible.. so, I’m just trying to find out as much as I can, from multiple sources, before I make a balls-up of it. Thank you in advance…

Hiya, We harvest it as it begins flowering. So, often there will be flowers open and many not open or fully formed yet. It is definitely more gummy just before flowering :) Hope that helps.Happy harvesting of your Grindelia. It's been a cold summer here so far, so ours is probably a few weeks off harvesting... i'm keeping a close eye on it for that perfect window of a dry day here in Ireland! Marina

I can't tell if you were saying things others told you, or if you knew the effects first hand. It's good to brew a very strong tea, drink it on camera, and then describe the effects a few hours later. Dry skin? Wet sweat skin? Does the stomach feel hot (like you ate a lot of ginger), Does the stomach feel cold (like you drank a lot of juice from purple or red prickly pear fruit (jugo de tuna)). Do you feel awake (like you drank coffee)? Do you feel tired (as if chlorphenamine or trazadone was ingested). (Hot versus Cold), (Numb versus Painful), (Awake versus Sleepy). Its very difficult for me to find physical descriptions of physical sensations. I generally do not want to know what condition a herb is supposedly is useful for. Only physical sensations are verifiable. For example the white sap from opium poppies often makes people feel slightly numb or tired.

I really hope that you might eat one while on camera, and then describe the flavor. I realize that medicine does not taste good. However, some medicinal herbs are useful in cooking. For example, Tarragon (artemisia dracunculus) has no medicinal effect in my opinion, but tarragon makes carrots, potatoes, and other root vegetables taste better in a soup or stew. Taste on the tongue is not the only thing. It is also good to make a video an hour or two later, describing any noticeable effects on the body (sweating, feeling hot, feeling cold, feeling energetic like you drank too much coffee, feeling sleepy or tired, feeling numbness in the lips or cheeks, or tongue). When I read about spilanthes (Acmella oleraceae) the descriptions are not physical enough. A "physical description" would omit ideas about spiritual energy and other strangeness. If the world were made of nothing but rocks, and wind, and growing things, how would describe how your mouth feels, or legs, or arms after eating this strange herb. I am tired of people writing about bad spirits and good spirits, and things of that nature. The most interesting thing for me would be if old people who were very sick, and been to the hospital many times in the last few years, had options for herbs that would result in a painless death. The deadly herbs for suicide sometimes make people feel tingly on the skin (as if the person is "flying"). Additionally, a good herb for suicide might make you feel like your bed in on wheels and is being pushed down a hallway. Sleepiness, numbness, reduction in chronic pain, and low blood pressure are usually ideal for dying without additional life-prolonging therapies.

Wow, it makes me want to go to visit and find out all about these amazing plants, especially as I have an invasion of couch grass. I also have Aconite which I treat with great respect, and foxgloves which I allow to grow everywhere as I really do admire their magnificence. Thank you Marina for your wonderful videos. More please.? Xxx.

What part of the plant do you tincture? Flower, stems, seeds, roots? If you use the roots, do you harvest them after the plant is done blooming? Or early in the spring?
