Hi daryl Just a question I’ve brought artwox wood deck sheets I think it’s the same sheets that you have on your Titanic 1/200 scale model trumpeter am I gonna have any trouble putting the sheet that goes on the bowel? I do not wish to be removing any plastic 🤔 I do not have the Pontos kit
@darylw7924 ай бұрын
My wood deck sheets were from the Pontos set. In order to use them I had to sand some areas flat. I do not know anything about the artwox set.

I just used the chain that came with the Pontos Kit, or the Trumpeter Kit. Of hand do not remember which one.

the vents are able to turn on ships, those vents are very important on Titanic or any ship, as ships are designed to keep the ocean out. this cause air in ships to become stale so engineers created those vents to catch any breeze from any angle with wind is coming.

Oh my, that skylight housing at 7:27 is a mess. Good thing my 1:400 Academy had photoetch for that part so it looked good when I glued it on top of the original clear part. For your model's skylights, I think the best solution is to remove the clear part (the ceiling) from the bulkheads and replace it with PE, a new PE set is available but I think it's not made by Pontos. "KV" is the name of the manufacturer, I think. Then you can glue clear acetate under the PE skylight roof frames. I think the skylight glass is frosted on the real ship. Peter Davies-Garner simply airbrushed clear paint on the underside of the "glass" of his Orlando model and it looks convincing. By the way, the skylight housing bulkheads should have 2 portholes facing funnel #2. There are also long narrow brown wood boards hanging on port and starboard sides of the skylight housing.

Thanks for that great Video Daryl, it helps a lot ! There are so many options to light my titanic i'm thinking about. The original one is not the way i like to do. The LED's are to big for the position lights and the lights for the funnels, so i have to find another solution. Greetings from Germany

It has been a nightmare the last 6 months. With my wife getting sick and being forced to buy the house we have been renting it has not been easy. That is why I have not been doing any videos for a while. Than June 1st my wife died from her cancer, so it has been a battle to get motivated to do much. Hopefully I will get back to finishing the Titanic model soon. Thanks for your concerns.

I think they were 1/8", which is slightly larger than 3 mm. Thus I had to sand them down until they measured 3 mm. If one can find 3 mm shafts it would save the time it took to sand them.

What is the voltage to run the motors? I received a kit for the Trumpeter and no instructions were included. What type of RC set should I use with this kit? Thank you
@darylw7923 жыл бұрын
The motors I used I bought from Amazon ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0XOOS5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). They came in a pack of 5. The voltage rating for these motors is 3v to 12v. The RPM range is 1500 to 13,000. When I add voltage to the motors after they were installed in the model it only took about 2v to get them turning. To control the motors on my 9v system I bought speed controllers with a reversing switch for each propeller. That way I can rotate the propellers in reverse for fun if I want to. These one can find on amazon also at : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071H2YQG5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Using a speed controller will keep the motors from running to fast for my application. To connect the motor shaft to my propeller shafts I used 2mm to 3mm brass couplers for each motor. These can be found on amazon at: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TV2261L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 If you are going to use this model in the water than I would recommend the youtube channel TheModelBoatGuy. He is an expert at RC model boats and is building a Trumpeter Titanic for that purpose. Hope this helps

I've found that using Bare Metal Foil to mask glass like shown in the video works really well. It is thin enough that the window frame is visible. It cuts well with a sharp blade. It doesn't bleed under. Have used it for aircraft canopies for years. I've enjoyed following your progress.
