Aww this is brilliant that he doesn’t feel unwell with it! 🎉 I would say with a higher dosage etc it will really depend on your body etc… sometimes when I feel really low on my levels my consultant will ask me to take more supplements etc but that’s when I’m lower with potassium magnesium. I always knew from a young age there was something not right with my body as when I was ill with flu, cold, stomach bug etc my hands used to cramp up and my face. I remember asking my mum if she can un-cramp my hands etc. I also used to get UTIs all the time and I mean like monthly… I think this is a condition where not one shoe fits all it’s very different for everyone some people need more supplements than others etc. I would recommend salty foods and even salt in water etc if he starts to feel ill when he gets a bit older, I know that helps me and hydration pouches you can add to water they always have extra mag and potassium in. I also used to eat peperamis as a child loved them! I remember also sitting in my room pouring salt into my hands and hiding it under my bed 😂 and when my mum used to walk in I used to hide it really fast (as we didn’t know I had the condition then) just speak to your consultant when possible and make sure he is getting levels checked at GP/ Hospital regular so they can keep an eye on levels and if any patterns occur etc. I’m on the Facebook group too 😊

Thanks so much for sharing your story. Incredibly in nearly all our food haull videos we have peperamis in them as these are something lucas always craves- these and instant noodles (the flavouring is pretty much salt)

Hii, I am a GS warrior aswell, and to answer your question, I think we all experience raises in our medicin along the way, however its very individual how much and how often. As long as he's stable, thats ofc the most important🌸 There is small things to ensure he gets more potassium in his food, like not boiling food with much potassium in it as it gets wasted in the water and such, and letting him eat salty food is so good🙏 It def can be a journey to learn about and accept, but there is so much support to find in the fb group you mentioned, it was really my lifesaver 8 years ago when I found it🌸
@TheKilburn-LongFamily5 ай бұрын
@livbrndum9854 thank you for that- very informative, yes as can be seen in our shopping Haul videos we encourage salty foods for him :-)

Alcohol is a big no no with this condition. Even a glass can cause heart palpitations and weakness with potassium in the mix he will risk ulceration. Lots of us just can't tolerate alcohol at all. Redbull or energy drinks are very dangerous. He is a boy so won't suffer with the hormonal changes women do. Once he reaches his later teen years his medication will be stable from then he won't or should not see much changes in his life.
@TheKilburn-LongFamily5 ай бұрын
So for adults. Even if they choose not to take a daily dose because they know they may be having an evening out does this still cause the possible heart palpitations?
@risetv15 ай бұрын
The NHS used to give a months supply. I started to source my own potassium because as you say there are lots of different brands. I tend to switch between kalium plain powdered potassium. I buy a bunch when i go to Romania and it is what they use there. I also use some '; over the counter'' one from the states which is a liquid called KETO IV. Some over the counter potassium does not work though and i found that out myself when i was forced to stop the pink liquid and i was looking. When he gets older he will have a choice of holding tablets and no doubt there will be different forms or more advancements.
@TheKilburn-LongFamily5 ай бұрын
Yes that's what we are hoping for as he really struggles with the large tablets, as mentioned in the video, 15 tablets a day is a lot.
@risetv15 ай бұрын
The liquid destroyed my intestines. If he can't take it that is a sign. It burning my tonuge. i had ulceration in my intestines and lost a lot of weight from the pink solution.

Tbh I wouldn’t say I feel unwell other than tiredness. I asked my consultant why. He told me if any other person (who didn’t have the condition) had the kind of levels we have they would be in hospital bed ridden but because our body is used to the levels we are not necessarily unwell.
@TheKilburn-LongFamily5 ай бұрын
@rachelwalker9690 thank you for that. That is really informative and makes a lot of sense as Lucas does not feel unwell eather. So thank you for enlightening us.
