And this is a classic issue of poor self image, self medication through drugs and alcohol, due to the guilt, control, shame and expectation placed on him by his mother, probably for his entire life. “Don’t disappoint me” are the first words he here’s from her in 10 years. No wonder he ended up the way he did. Cold, self concern for status and pride from his mother, rather than encouragement, freedom, love, kindness and non judgement. It’s visible his sense of feeling unworthiness. Not only does he need help understanding this, his mother does too.

Man, even now I'm a disappointment to my mother. The woman never had faith or confidence in my ability from day 1. I might be a moron at times but I'm the only one in my family that has the smarts to actually get us somewhere. Emotionally support your children people.

There’s just no pleasing some people. Take it as a lesson, not to worry about what she or anyone else thinks. Do you. Use it as motivation to prove her judgement wrong. The good thing about going it alone is that no one else can try to claim the glory or any of the other rewards that come with your success. You can’t choose your family, but you can choose who you treat like family. And when your successful, you get to choose who you pull up with you, and who you leave in the dirt. Support the people who support you. Good luck and get to work.

@@Duciousness anytime friend. I’ve had similar relationships before. People are usually either looking down on you condescendingly, or looking up at you enviously. Let them look, anyway they want to and don’t pay em no mind. The less time and energy you focus on them and the more you focus on yourself and your future, the better off you’ll be. I believe in you, internet stranger. We are all capable of way more than we think we are. Believe in yourself. Sometimes that’s enough.

3:55 explained how this miracle occurred at break-neck speed, the moment the prodigal surrendered to Jehovah in his heart then Jah began to bring about opportunity and redemption at tremendous speed. From his video clip going viral, to being a guest on the Today show 3 days later, to signing a deal with Kraft! Praise Jah, his people!😊

Therapy for a childhood lived with false pride and imagery. "I go to the "nicest church" means very little to most people when seeking god. Drugs would be an escape of feeling worthless.

Well done to him, he's got another chance and had the strength to take it...AND the strength to know he'll need help. Whatever anyone thinks of his Mum, his face when she says about her church in Brooklyn... Right there, he knows. Never gonna be perfect. Poor guy

90 years old or not, his mom has been mean to him. She should look in the mirror and be supportive rather than worry what her church friends will think about her down and out son.

"My husband was a Jehovah's witness". But she celebrates Christmas. Bless her. Although I cannot judge any sect nor religion, when some of them do not celebrate anything at all because of their religious beliefs (the Holidays ,birthdays, wedding aniversaries etc...) the magic of children eyes during the Holidays is priceless.

Poor guy having it hard enough and I think that old doll she more worried about what people think about poor guy holding up a sign than what's he going threw. Suppose I know why that guy didbt want to see her for so many years the way she thinks of him.for his own mental health I'm guessing better 2 stay away .I to have the same problems and I'm out of my mother's life now 8 years and all is great no regrets and I can say for sure il not be at her funeral that's for sure .plus if uz want to also know it's not a want for trying she is nothing but a Hippocratic

It's been ages since I've looked up clips on this guy, but wow the amount of absolutely dragging him through him the mud incessantly, repeatedly, over and over says a lot. I don't care how much grief he's caused her over the years, you FINALLY get this chance for a turn-around, the very thing you say you've "prayed to God for" and your whole demeanor is nothing but a miserable old negative woman. Incapable of even one positive thing to say about this scenario. Absolutely can't stand people who are this negative, they're like black holes.

Really? Parents were negligent? Could it be that you were drunk, going over 80 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone, that might have been the cause for you killing a 14 year old boy on a bike?
