Hello. I have a 2016 Subaru XV. I intend to take out the engine to install one that I just bought. ¿could you say that measurement of standard, millimetric, dice keys use? In addition to the measurements of the extensions for tire guns. Thank you for illustrating me, I feel confident that I can do it.

@thesubieguy1014 Жыл бұрын
It can be a few things, when you take off the door panel, pay attention to how the cables to the door handle and lock are sitting, sometimes those come off or get caught on something and this happens, sometimes it the actual actuator that is failing.

For the auto trans you have to remove the torque converter bolts, there are none on the manual trans, everything else would be similar

Whatre the major issues with these engines ? Head gaskets and oil consumption
@thesubieguy10142 жыл бұрын
Oil consumption are the main issues with the chain motors, but maintenance is the key to any longevity of a engine. The older belt engines had the head gasket issues.

How you do the split between engine and transmission? Because there’s 4 bolts you should remove ..??? I’m in this process now. I have a 2015 Impreza 2.0l
@thesubieguy10142 жыл бұрын
Underneath the throttle body, there is a small access hole, covered with a rubber cover. Remove the cover and u will then have to rotate the crank by hand with a 22mm or 19mm socket and wrench, depending on motor. You will see the flywheel bolts u are referring to. Some people remove the throttle body, some don't. So do it the way you feel comfortable. Some newer models have 6 bolts, older ones have 4. They should be 12mm bolts.

Is there a part # for the wrist pin service plug? No video seems to show how it's removed or installed. Thanks
@thesubieguy10142 жыл бұрын
Hey Dantelchico, thanks for watching my video, the wrist pin for the fa/fb motors are serviced like inline and V motors, where you take off the connecting rod cap at the bottom and then the piston and rod goes up through the block. You just have to rotate the crank until each bolt clears to be undone. If that makes sense.
@Dantelchico2 жыл бұрын
@@thesubieguy1014procedure is pretty clear. What I'm looking for is the plug that goes on the block to cover the side hole once the piston is done, I can't find it on part diagrams. Thanks again

@@Dantelchico the fa/fb blocks don't have the wrist pin plugs, only the EJ motors had the wrist pin plug. Unless you are looking for something else I am unsure what you are looking for. If you have a picture, I might be able to point you in the right direction

Can an oil extractor be used to pull oil through the dipstick on these models?
@thesubieguy10142 жыл бұрын
Honestly it depends on the machine doing the extracting. I used 1 once and it did not work very well, but if you have success with a certain machine let us know. I Honestly recommend doing the old fashion draining oil to get rid of all possible sludge in the pan.
@waynecostanza22802 жыл бұрын

For those with an FB20 with direct injection (I guess it's on all 2018+ models?) do you think an AOS / Catch Can is necessary? Have you seen any valves with decent miles on them? Thank you for the simple and straight to the point video :)
@thesubieguy10142 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching my video, I'm sorry for the late response. I don't believe a catch can will help in anyways unless there is excessive blow by from your block, which then returns to your intake. Most of the FB motors have piston ring issues where the oil gets burned and out the exhaust. I personally haven't seen much issues with the new values that are installed into the heads, all of the new loaded heads for the FB/FA motors comes with the "blue" painted springs. Thank you again for watching my video. Let me know if you have any questions.

@@SuggonDeizNutz the mileage for this one I don't recall, but if they did start burning oil, they started as early as 40-50k miles.
