Because that tends to cause the wing to flutter a lot. For trike launches it's necessary but that's not a problem if you are not using your feet as landing gear. Generally though, as a pilot gains more experience, they will start adding power earlier and earlier, until power is usually added just after the wing has cleared the blast area behind the propeller.

That's exactly how it looks, but looks are deceiving. Although good statistics don't exist, and a comparison to anything else is difficult, it's generally assumed that paramotoring is safer than motorcycling. That's likely because it's rare that flights can last as long as the longest motorcycle rides, but more importantly, motorcycles have a lot more opportunity to 1) hit other objects like guard rails, buildings, trees, potholes, or 3) be hit by other moving vehicles. The wings that keep us in the air are extremely well engineered, and will not fail if basic rules are followed (don't fly in bad air, keep the gear inspected, do fly equipment which is beyond your skill - aka progress slowly and carefully).

Lol - I've been told I have a face that's perfect for radio .. :-) But yeah, I'm always doing something screwy with my expressions, never realize it at the time. In the meantime I have a newer paramotor. I originally bought it because it was much lighter but what makes it so much better is that it has something like 40% more thrust. So in the mean time I've added a bunch of stuff - bigger tank, heavier (more durable) exhaust, strobes, made it into a real man's machine; heavy! :-)
