_This is the lyrics:_ Come on, man! Tell me you love me, even if we know you're lying! Come on! Let's add some romance to this dirty life! Some plastic beauty to our dying bodies Some chemical fun in our rotten brains Let's make our lives look as perfect as a movie! Come on, man! Tell me you love me, even if we know you're lying! Come on! Let's try to forget what we really are! Lonely lovers in a dying city, false lovers in a rotten world! Let's make our lives look as real as a movie! (Guitare solo) Come on, man! _As we see, the lyrics in English and French are essentially the same_

I think her beauty was NOT an acquired taste, but maybe many think her vocals were - but I do NOT. I always found her apparently out of tune, a cute snarling, a manifesto in Punk female singing, somewhere far between Patti Smith and Siouxsie Sioux, but uttering a strange phonetic mélange of ''Frenchised'' English, flattening R's under nasal and yoddling sensual squealing. I liked her voice immediately . That was singing Punk as i idealize it - catchy for us, annoying for the squares. Here in Portugal, I was getting some papers and mags from the UK and France in early to mid 77 (my 8th grade), and that name kept being dropped here and there, but i guess it was R & F and NME who ''selected'' them first as French Ponque mascot group, not only because they'd been at the 100Club in the last throes of the pre-Summer of hate. It's been a long time, but i guess i first heard them in 78, under the sheer connaisseur Radio-Law of the late António Sérgio, on his ''Rotação'' night show, that used to air between 1.00 am and 3.00 am every night, on a national FM station, owned by the Holy See (!!). As they had definite traits of the arty-chic set of Paris Punk, i guess they reached some mostly upper-middle class kids in the capital;, who started the very early Portuguese Punk scene, still in 77. It was short yet very enjoyable, with a handful of good to interesting bands - actually they made way to the so called Pt-Rock boom of 79-82. From that early scene, some musicians went far - not mentioning names, i can always tell you that the bassist in one of those early Lisbon Punk groups, was future Madredeus's main composer and guitarist. But i digress - hearing the Stinky Toys for the first time, was like neuro-connecting with Paris instantaneously (just like on Kkrist Mirror's cartoons with them tubes et al...) , a thin shot of adrenaline in your spine. The second album was slightly more poppy but, stylistically, a tribute to many NY legends of 75-78, in spirit and style. Yeah, in style, that's the word. Jacno RIP. Johnny's birthday party forever.
