Hello sir I subscribe your channel already. I have questions, I use 7 wire plugs why my left signal or brake light is not strong bright like the right side? Or some time the right is not bright strong. All wire are grounded. There are two wires from the small or regular brake lights, one wire is black and the other is red or mixed with red and other colors , please clarify where these wires go to connect to the 7 wire, thanks

Why did you put the trailer jack where it will ruin the tailgate on your truck if you drop it?
@johnsontrailerparts3 ай бұрын
the Jack used on this build is a A-frame mount Jack that mounts in the coupler of the trailer.

Does anyone know why the middle of the dustcap is now rubber? Used to be all medal. Thinking for air pressure when putting it on perhaps. Or perhaps it's a strength thing. Less likely to dent it when putting it on.
@johnsontrailerparts3 ай бұрын
The reason for the rubber plug on the dust caps is that Dexter/Rockwell Axles now come with Either Posi or EZ lube spindles. Meaning on the end of the spindle is a grease zert allowing you to grease the hubs greasing the inner bearing first. The rubber plug is so you can easily access this grease zert
@matthewvanderbeek28473 ай бұрын
Didn't know that. That is a good idea. Makes it easy to keep greased.

What isn't shown is that the tongue has to be square to the trailer and perpendicular to the center line of the trailer. It helps to have the trailer frame square and the hangers equal distances from the front of the trailer. You can't show that in a 1-2 min. video. Also, the measurements in your print are center to center in some places.

3 questions. 1- how much was the materials total? 2- how long did it take you 3-where can I find the plans?
@johnsontrailerparts5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your questions. to answer your questions: 1. the cost of steel varies depending on location and time you purchase. The trailer Parts kit not including steel (see link below) is $895 includes free shipping to commercial address ( johnsontrailerparts.com/shop/6ft-utility-trailer-parts-kit-3-5k-model-u72-120-35j/ ) 2. It took us about 15 hours start to finish, keep in mind we have built quite a few trailers and have a process down. 3. the plans come free with purchase of trailer parts kit or you can find them here for purchase: johnsontrailerparts.com/shop/6-x-10-utility-trailer-plans-blueprints-3500-lb-capacity/

The cost of Steel will be biggest cost factor as that price fluctuates all the time and varies on location. Steel prices may be vastly different where we are compared to you.

So, only a 3500bs axle? That seems a bit under size. The trailer alone probably weighs half that..if i were doing that i would at least use a 5000lbs axle.

Yes, the plans for this trailer is engineered for rating of 3,500lbs, it uses lighter gauge steel, We do offer plans for 5,200lb trailer as well

@johnsontrailerparts10 ай бұрын
Yes, if your asking about to bolt that holds spring pack together. Just make sure to use proper bolt length for your spring pack. Typically if that bolt is rusted off. I would recommend replacing the springs.

Why do some people fill their hubs with grease?
@tomahawksteak6672Күн бұрын
Bearings need grease or they won't last long. Just don't pack too much grease or u will most likely blow out the seal. Need room for expansion .

I’ve tried about 20 caps and can’t get any in, if belted them all completely out of shape and flattened the others completely
@johnsontrailerparts Жыл бұрын
What brand hubs do you have and what size cap are you using. It is best to use a rubber mallet or block of wood so pressure is applied evenly when installing. It is similar to installing wheel seals. They must go in evenly.
@oby-1607 Жыл бұрын
It looks like you are building the trailers in quantity. A simple table jig would really help and ensure accuracy and speed production. You guys can obviously cut and weld steel and a jig would help tremendously. You have the right work attitude anyway.
@johnsontrailerparts Жыл бұрын
Good Morning, We actually do not build in quantity. When we come out with new blueprints we do a test build to make sure the plans are good to go before we offer them for sale. Yes, if we were to build in quantity we would build jigs to speed up the process, but as of now we only build one trailer per blueprint we offer.

It all depends on what your looking for. The plans for these trailers get you a well built sturdy trailer that will last. Cheaper trailers (like those sold at most hardware type stores) you can buy usually will have lighter steel and tend to not last. If looking for a trailer for light use then a cheaper prebuilt might be a good option. If your looking to have a trailer for heavier use and that will last, you usually are better building one as you can build them cheaper than most comparable trailers to this that you can buy plus you can build it out to your specification. Even with Steel prices today, for the cost of most of the cheaper trailers you can buy, you can build a trailer like this for usually same cost or cheaper and end up with a much better trailer. It really depends on steel price in your area. When looking at trailers you typically find the cheaper ones have less crossmembers and use lighter gauge steel. As price for same size trailer goes up you will find they use thicker gauge steel and more crossmembers.
