It's unique, it has a specific style and emotion to it that can't be rushed, can't be overdone, its a very patient piece of perfection. I appreciate you creating it! I was trying to tweak around with it, with the after-touches. The Summit allows for 4 banks to where (if I wanted to) blend multiple settings into aftertouch. In the case however for the LFOs, I found it nullified the LFO that was already in the design. Started to open up some design trains on my part, so much under the Summit hood!

my good man, how have you attached the MAFD with the DFAM in the rack stand?
@embazleАй бұрын
Great question. I had to email Sonoclast and I got the following answer. Keep in mind though, I have the Moog Studio live so there are some slight centimeter differences potentially with other rack mount instances. They stated the following: "you want four screws sized #6-32 x 1″. I think 1-1/4" might exceed the threads in the DFAM's case. The stock ones are 3/4", I believe, so 1/4" more is enough to reach through the MAFD's case." When you receive the MAFD, you'll see where all the holes allow for it to be connected on the external side of the Moog Studio Live rack.

@@evilrainbow that would be fun, two DFAMs!😅 would you be getting two MAFDs for programming sequences between the two? @@embazle Yeah, thats always really beautiful and inspiring when the synth makes something you didnt expect. I´ve just bought my first pure synth (had some workstations and stage piano before) and coincidentally, it's the same novation summit that you have. I am really amazed by this synth and how beautiful deep sounds you can make because of the many LFO´s. Having seen your videos motivates me to dive deep, learn everything about it and make the most out of this synth. Its really dope and underrated synth considering the price. Also the moog sub 37 is beautiful. really nice synth with its own soul. Great idea connecting these two.
@embazle2 ай бұрын
@@patrikvelek2630 I think that’s awesome. How your journey has gotten you into acquiring the.novation summit! It is quite the pure synth indeed. Personally, I don’t believe it is very forgiving when it comes to the progressive state by which your creation of a patch can very easily go off track. I know this is a very deep. It’s not a user-friendly synth in my opinion for a beginner, there definitely is some appreciation and adeptness to synthesis required to truly appreciate just how much you can get out of it and for what I’ve been used to using in the past does not compare, but that is why I wanted. It is to have this for the rest of my life to learn and dive into areas where I never thought would be possible in my whole synthesis journey. Sometimes I just wanna have a sound and enjoy it and play it and get totally immersed in it. I do hope to someday create some amazing patches, but I have a lot to learn. Congratulations on getting your Summit!
@patrikvelek26302 ай бұрын
@@embazle yeah, its not really for the beginners. I mean its possible to do just basic sound, I use often just classical OB type of sound with little tweaks like unison and pitch LFO, but what I've found is that things get really impressive when you start to use the LFO's and thats something for me, as being quite beginner, really another world. A lot of options which my fantasy cannot comprehend😂. I experiment a lot and it always makes something interesting.

@@nolake I wish the Summit could create such lush piano sounds! It was nice to marry the summit with the Yamaha CP, it has its own built in reverb and delay which sound pretty decent! But yeah, the Summit as you know does justice. You definitely are more attuned with yours having watched you play and tweak as you play. It’s pretty inspiring actually!
@nolake4 ай бұрын
Thank you! But inspiration comes from your place too. Never understood why that synth was so underrated. Even when I see demos on the Muse for almost twice the price, I’m not very impressed and so far I’ve heard nothing that the Summit couldn’t do. I wouldn’t say that for a Polybrute 12 or something along those lines of course but the Muse, still waiting to be impressed but I’ll be someday I’m sure of it.
@embazle3 ай бұрын
@@nolake when I first started out with a Korg Minilogue, I became a tuned to the onboard sequencing of synthesizers until the digitakt came along, and it became my master sequencer. Those prior days of mad scientist performances were my favorite. Having a sub 37 And that raw Moog sound, and having love for poly synths, I remembering going a whole year trying to decide which synth was the best, for the bang, the Summit won. It is still so complex to me. The Moog Muse, feels of familiar territory to me, but I wouldn’t be able to offer anything as I’ve never played it, but it looks like it can do a lot. The price that point to compare would have to do an overhaul of justice, especially when compared with a poly brute 12, which it’s analog lusciousness is immediate to the touch such an expressive and wonderful synthesizer. Maybe it’s too soon to judge, but at least Moog chose to offer something rather than going overboard with their Moog One. I still remember when I had a Berenger deep mind 12, it sounded so good. You can’t knock it until you play it. They really made that a good synth. anyway I have no defense to proclaim as I have not gone deep enough on the Summit to give it justice, probably a good discord session for us my dude!😊
@nolake3 ай бұрын
You’re right. I also think that there aren’t any bad synths today. People just have to find the synth that suits them best regarding their budget of course. I often advised the Monologue to some friends as I find it really nice to start. It does a lot of things. Both Monologue and XD are great but kind of different. The One is pure jewelry but it’s another dimension. I don’t expect the Muse to be that impressive but I expect it to impress me somehow 😁
@embazle3 ай бұрын
@@nolake The monologue was my work around to not having the sub37. It still was such a raw power house. I loved that synth. Having that and the Minilogue was a good time. Same for the volca bass and volca keys, simple but powerful, it shined in its own dedicated sense. I guess that made the improv performances more predictable between the machines, you only can so far and thus you’re not lost in the inspirational space, you get to where performance pieces can be predictable and set quickly.

@kierenmoore32364 ай бұрын
@@embazle So, did you track the Summit first, then this video is you tracking the CP separately?
@embazle4 ай бұрын
@@kierenmoore3236 I’m still able to play the summit simultaneously while I’m playing the CP Yamaha, but that is only because of midi. The cable, just transfers the note between the summit and the reface.. so essentially the sounds are simultaneously playing together. The pad on the summit and the piano on the CP. the pads on the summit have a lower attack so allows for the blend between the two sound like they’re within the same instrument. I do this similarly in my other videos between the sub 37 and the summit. If it wasn’t for Midi I wouldn’t be able to do this. It would most likely require how you’re stating to layer sound separately.
@kierenmoore32364 ай бұрын
