I've just really put focus into observing how much muting I've gotten in the habit of doing by nature and just really started noticing since playing a telecaster again since you still get a bit more bite and stick from those notes that are being snubbed off. I also noticed how much my index is muting as well. I suppose it's just a habit to do in general by instinct after you're in the habit of doing it with your palm. What I still swear by is a swatch of velcro under the 1st fret which I've noticed other people have adopted after I've done it for that last 15 years lol. Something relative to this is because I'm an electronics engineer, I put an awful lot of focus into low pass filters with everything I design and build. It's the ultimate weapon to get clarity, definition and note separation, but being an engineer I have a huge advantage over virtually all other players. I can still get a lot of sharp treble bite and slice without it going raspy, brittle and killing definition. I also filter everything so well I don't get any 60-cycle or other RF and in that, I don't need a noise gate.

The question I would have had is sure you are using the mode but theres more to it than just the mode I mean in the examples you are not just using it.... theres blues scale and chromatics and all kinds of stuff going on...

Is the original vhs copy of this recording still around? This deserves a proper deinterlaced conversion at 4k 60fps.

I bought a VHS version of his Speed Picking & Monster Lick tuition in mid 1991 in New Zealand. That first song is etched in my brain. I still don’t sweep! 😂 Frank has such amazing technique. Met him at a clinic in 2017 in Malaysia.

For anyone wondering, everbody heard whitenoise in the background while going about their daily lives. It's not the recording, background whitenoise was always present until the 90s.

Same stage I saw a drum clinic at. AJ Pero and Allen White. 1985 I think. Reliable Music was the main fixture in Charlotte's rock music scene. The place was awesome! Around this time Tony McAlpine did a guitar clinic as well. Golden days! Their battle of the bands, every summer, was RIDICULOUSLY awesome!! I still play licks I learned from the guys at Reliable.

underrated, In one line with Allan Holdsworth, Guthrie Govan and a few others. Fusion player at it´s best and likewise the reason i decided not to become a professional guitar player at the age of 14 :-)

Wow 👏, I say this with the Utmost Respect - he sounds similar to EJ no ? Maybe they had the same teacher, or went to the same academy, etc. Not saying ANYONE copied. Either way they're both Bad@$$ guitarists , right ! Just my ears observation 💪😎👍🎸
@EVEROSFP12 жыл бұрын
I think is totally a different approach in guitar than Eric Johnson. He is heavily into fusion genre,his technique is very different than EJ, completely different background.. different sound. But both are amazing.
