Im not sure what ya know about Paint but, Primers come in 3 Colors for a reason. I, personally, woulda used Red Primer. Its all about certain colors sticking better to certain colors of Primer. GREAT WORK BRO 😎 Do a little research on Primers. Itll be a BIG HELP in the future. Keep up the good work 👊 (fist bump) Speaking of Clears? My bestie, whos been a Professional Luthier for 40+ years, ALWAYS does 32 Coats of Clear Laquer. THAT'S the secret to getting that DEEP FINISH so it doesnt even look like Paint. 1st Coat, relatively thin with a MINIMUM of 24 hrs Dry Time. All the subsequent Coats can be layed on with 30 minutes Dry time. If the first Coat isnt fully dry, none of the following Coats will EVER get hard or fully dry. BTW, just subbed. Lookin forward to more GREAT Videos.

The 2k clear is clear coat..the "button" you're talking about is what releases the catalyst aka hardener... Thus the reason why you have about 24hrs after mixed before it hardens. It's a polyurethane finish.

I’ve tried this 4x. Can you help me out with just the water part please? I’ve tried hose water, I’ve tried water with borax, etc. I’m left with a white primer body still with the water that eventually just turns all blue & the paint doesn’t really stick at all to the guitar . I’d appreciate any help

@willscharen199 ok, that marble paint needs a medium, if you got it from Michael's, they sell it as well. The base goat should be fine but I prefer Rustoleum 2k spray paint for a primer and base coat. It's easy to sand once sry and sprays evenly

get a 220 Litre compost bin and use a pool silicone like sikkaflex pool n seal the lids n then flip it over n you have yourself a 72cm circle, 78 cms height, perfect size to cover the entire body, next use a drop or two of black between each bright color and it will make the bright colors pop and put the paint in quicker, use black to start to make a nice large circle bout 8-10 drops , then add say yellow 5-6 drops then black 1-2 drops with your other hand n repeat this with all your colors, i use fluro pink, fluro yellow , fluro green and black by easy marble which i prefer and then Do Not Mix the paint with a stick, when you submerge it do it in like a S pattern to make the desired swirl pattern, when you mix it with a stick it makes some thicker parts in the paint and can leave thin parts that dont cover fully and it makes it start to skim on the water which is why you get an uneven finish , just my exp swirl painting which i have been doing for over 10 yrs now , all the best n keep experimenting cheers greg

Floyd Rose Speed loader neck is 22 frets right up to the butt of the neck. The Warmoth 22 fret necks use a standard 21 fret neck but with an extension to the fretboard to fit that last fret - the butt is still sits in the neck pocket designed for a 21 fret neck. In short, the neck pocket on a Floyd Rose Redmond speedloader is closer to the bridge posts than on a normal Strat. That's my experience, anyways.
@samdeo5332
@samdeo5332 6 ай бұрын
It's possible, I never had a Redmond. I bought the Speedloader directly from FR years ago. And it worked fine with the strings, but once they lost a company to make those strings, the guitar is useless. I still think the concept is good, but the execution leaves something to be desired.

Hi. One question. How did you discard that amount of paint? I've been trying to figure what to do with it. I read the paint manufacturer's MSDS and it seems kind of vague on best way to discard responsibly. Thanks
@samdeo5332
@samdeo5332 6 ай бұрын
There's not a lot of paint to discard actually. The bottle of paint itself is about the size of a touchup bottle from a car dealer and you're putting drops in the water, not huge amounts. I'm cleaning up the paint with a paper towel. Then I take the paper towel and put it with the rest of the paint that's going to be handed over to hazardous waste day drop off my town has twice a year.

@@samdeo5332 Thanks for the response. What I mean is, in the video, I see a garbage can filled with paint contaminated water. That's what I mean. Do you just dump it in the driveway to run off into the sewer? I'm just imagining my neighbors watching me dump a colored liquid into the sewer. BTW, great job! I am very much into finishing guitars and this technique interests me quite a bit so any details on the disposal experience would be appreciated. @@edorne100 Ok, understood, the water isn't as contaminated as you would think as most of the paint sits on top and doesn't sink. And I've reused the water a few times. But once I'm done I just dump the water into the grass.

A couple questions… How long do you need to keep your guitar under the water? when I’ve taken objects out of the water little water bubbles remain. How do you get rid of those? Hairdryer ..fan? Any other technique? Just shaking didn’t seem to do it. Relying on sanding afterwards doesn’t really work since it sands off the color.
@samdeo5332
@samdeo5332 7 ай бұрын
As soon as it's fully submerged and the paint on top is moved out of the way its removed. I would say from start to finish under a minute. I way the body around so extreme air drying you might say. Pretend you're directing traffic if that makes sense.

They seem to be very close to scale (1:48) size. They seem to be a model of the FP7. Which is 4 foot longer than a regular F. It’s a pity they never made passenger cars on the same scale. I think this paint scheme was only really used for passenger power. I see yours has maroon paint on the pilot. My set has just tinned steel there, but the tin is thin and oxidized and looks splotchy. Maybe they painted later ones to look better. I may paint my pilots to look like yours.

Great video. Love these. One minor correction: those are both A units, one is a powered A unit and the other is a dummy A unit. The configuration you are running together is referred to as an AA set. The B unit (which I do not believe Unique Art ever produced for this) does not have a cab. So a B unit, and I am speaking of the full size prototype on which this is based, looks essentially the same as an A unit except that both ends are squared off like a passenger car. The B unit lacks a rounded nose. This type of F body locimotive was run in many configurations on full size railroads. Your model is an AA. They also ran them solo with just an A unit. Often they ran in AB sets of two locomotives at the head of a train. For really long trains an A-B-A set of three locomotives was at the head. Did Unique Art only make this model in Rock Island livery? I have not seen many of these, but the ones I have seen are all painted the same as yours. Like you, I mostly run prewar tinplate, but I love these 1950 lithographed creations (I just bought a Marx #21 AA set) and agree they look fine with prewar tinplate. Thanks for the great photography, you have a very nice layout (love the monorail).
@samdeo5332
@samdeo5332 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the correction. Regarding the question if UAT every made other liveries of this locomotive, not as far as I'm aware. Also, they never made cars to go along with it. I've tried to find something that might work, but nothing looks right. This is a fairly large locomotive and dwarfs most passenger cars. And thanks for the kind words on my layout.

Thanks, I know what you mean about the lack of cars. Similar situation with my Marx #21. I’m tempted to try matching it with some of the Japanese tin lithographed “floor train” coaches that people have modified with O gauge trucks. I imagine Unique planned to release cars in this scale but the company ended before that could happen.
