Hi folks. Its great to see London Folk Song Cellar here - at last. We have a collection of most of the episodes. However we are missing tracks from episodes 28, 31 and 36 featuring artists: LFSC 28 - The North West Three, Kathie MacDonald, Trevor Lucas, The Chiltern Ramblers. LFSC 31 - The Taverners, Sandy Denny ("Green grow the laurels"), Bob Cann, Don Partridge, The Leesiders. LFSC 39 - The Watersons, Sydney Carter, Tessa Clifford, Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy. Please PM me if you have either transcription discs or tapes of these from LFSC. Many thanks - Chris B.

So glad these performances were recorded, all those years ago, and have been put on the internet. The tune used for the 'Cumberland Sword Dance' [starting at 10:25] is a traditional English Morris-dance tune called 'Rigs o' Marlow' [AKA 'Rakes of Mallow'], collected at Headington in 1915. [Traditional Tune Archive # 3335 2226 -- see at tunearch.org]. Did it come to the Midlands from Cumberland? -- and if so, did it come to England from Ireland?

He may have been the first in powered flight. But they end the story with the plane having little or no control. Of course...the wright brothers had to catapult launch their plane so the first real powered flight should go to someone who launched under their own power to take off....sustained control in flight...and landed under power too.

if you listened he said there was a cross wind he could not compensate for, something that challenges anyone learning to fly.. even today. The fact that he built his own double acting 4 cycle petrol engine is itself an amazing feat.

The Wayfarers were a folk group from East Devon in the 1960s. They appeared on the London Folk Song Cellar no. 32 in 1967. Here they sing the best ever version of Bowling Green. But we need the words, and one verse in this recording was left out due to a cassette turnover event. Does anyone remember the group, and does anyone have the words to this version of the song please? "Bowling Green" by the Wayfarers East Devon 1/ Wish I was in Bowling Green sittin' on a chair With one arm round the whiskey jug And the other round my dear The other round my dear... Bowling Green Oh.... dear old Bowling Green 2/ Wish I was a bumble bee flying through the air ???????? Touch her if you dare Touch her if you dare... Bowling Green Oh.... dear old Bowling Green 3/ If you see that ???? of mine Tell her its from me That if she loves another man I will set her free I will set her free... Bowling Green Oh.... dear old Bowling Green (This partial verse deleted) 4/ If you love me ???? put your hand in mine ?????? ?????? ?????? ?????? 5/ Wish I was in Bowling Green sittin' on a chair With one arm round the whiskey jug and the other round my dear The other round my dear... Bowling Green Oh.... dear old Bowling Green Dear old Bowling Green.

Hi - 1990 and 1992 Festivals were filmed by me. They are on KZbin. 1991 is around at home somewhere - that too may be uploaded. All other years were filmed by Wizard incl. 1998. But they have junked some of the masters so all we have left are VHS tapes. As a rescue project I applied to the Reading Cloggies Film Fund for professional digitisation onto DVDs of all remaining Festival videos. They declined without reason. Do ask them why - they wouldn't tell me.
