How good are you at welding?? I wanna do something like this with mine with a front end crown vic and the rear with the special parts to set the leafsprings up higher since its cheaper than buying lowered i beams. And i have no idea how to weld besides simple go kart parts

I can weld ok but I had a shop box my frame when they put in the Crown Vic front end. I would absolutely recommend the Crown Vic front as it totally transforms the truck in terms of steering, feel, and handling. Best low buck solution for these trucks by far.

Bad ass truck man, what shifter did you use to mount it further forward? Thanks!!
@bluethunder8034
@bluethunder8034 10 ай бұрын
Thanks man! The long Hurst shifter had to be modified and welded at the mount point and moved forward to not hit the bench seat. Shortly after this video I went with bucket seats (needed for the fantastic handling that the Crown Vic front brought) and a Barton short throw shifter. Much better!

Did you have any problems with the shifter hitting the seat? I'm thinking about doing this myself and I'm trying to do as much research as possible to figure out any hidden obstacles I might run into. You know how it goes, it's always the dumb shit you don't think of that puts you in a serious bind

Yes I did have to bend my long shifter initially and it worked fine. Since then I went with bucket seats and a short quick throw shifter that I like much better.

Nice truck but if you had gotten yourself a good 351windsor and bui!t it it would be a lot less money and a lot more power while staying true to the truck. But to each Thier own. that's what I've done and it works awesome and still rocks a carb...

Are you using a 8.8 rear end out of a explorer or still stock 9 inch
@bluethunder8034
@bluethunder8034 4 жыл бұрын
It's an 8.8 out of a Crown Vic with posi, 3.27's, and discs. It was $100 and works well but it is wide. I'd go with a more narrow rear if you want to fit wider than 255 tires like I have.

My truck came with an open rear Dana 44 with 3.00 gears and drum brakes. I swapped it to an 8.8 from a Crown Vic with posi, 3.27 gears, and disc brakes for $100. It is a very wide rear but will fit these trucks with the Crown Vic wheel backspacing.

@bluethunder8034
@bluethunder8034 4 жыл бұрын
Robert Davis The Crown Vic motor mounts fit the Coyote perfectly. The 4.6 and 5.0 blocks are the same. The headers are BBK long tubes for a 2014 Mustang GT. I’ll probably switch to some shorter ones eventually so I can lower it just a touch more.

What transmission are you running? I'm currently in the process of a coyote swap on an 02 f150 xl regular cab and I'm going with a tremec t56. Did you have any trouble fitting the long tube headers around shock towers?
@bluethunder8034
@bluethunder8034 4 жыл бұрын
Trans is the MT82 6 speed manual. Engine and trans came straight out of a 2014 Mustang GT. No issue with the long tubes and shock towers, but the steering linkage had to be fabbed up to clear.
