Can you try out the same setting you have but instead of using AMD FSR or Intel XeSS, can you use EPIC I've done this and put Super Resolution as Balance and it's giving well smooth experience.

What work very well for me.. I'm not a PC person so I don't know what I'm usually doing but I've gone messed with a bunch of games on the Steam Deck and for Marvel Rivals I've used. Anti-Aliasing: EPIC TSR Super Resolution: Balanced Anti-Aliasing: High Frame Gen: Off And for Graphics: All Low except model detail I left it as Performance. I'm not sure why the FPS numbers goes hay wire with this but it's been very smooth for me with these settings and no crashes. But if someone can explain me about the FPS going everywhere with his method that be great. To me for some odd reason it just runs very smooth..

I've spent the last couple days testing each one... I found Epic TSR has good performance when the game is idle, but as you point out, it becomes very inconsistent at times... especially during action. I'm hoping to have a new video on this soon, but I'm banging my head off my desk trying every way to get a very stable and consistent frame rate... even locking at 50 or 45... but I'm not have much luck.

Dude, you can change the res of the system to 720p, and use frame gen with bordeless window...

Yeah I've been testing running the game on 1024x640 and 800x500. Still trying to stay away from frame gen tho.

Two questions, u are using the oled version or the lcd one? And, u are using the mouse pad of the steam deck for aiming? Do u think it helps? I have a rog ally z1 extreme and a steam deck lcd and was thinking in trying play on the steam deck because of that pad for better aiming

I'm using the 256 LCD model. It is docked to record footage and I'm using an external controller, so I'm not sure if using the track pad would be better or not.

How many frames can you get with all low/off settings and no frame gen?

It'll be 60 prematch... but when there's heavy action, it bounces around the low 40s. This also varies map to map.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to do that. I've been leaving mine uncapped so I can see what the frame rate is on different maps.

I'm using an external controller, so I'm not sure if the controls translate the same to the Steam Deck's controls... but the main thing I changed was using Exponential Curve.

I use these exact settings tho my deck when fram gen on it locks the resolution to 1920p so I could produce higher frames than 60fps and stabler gameplay, if I find a way to unlock the res. Before season 1 I manage to get a stable 90fps despite it’s not needed on the deck but for some reason after launch ended it’s hard to run

Pro tip: reduce the dead zone to 2000 (increase it slightly if you experience stick drift). By default it's at 8000, which makes it much harder to aim precisely. I was wondering why I performed so much worse on the Steam Deck compared to the PS5. I thought the sluggishness was because of the lower frame rate, but turns out that it was mostly due to the huge dead zone. Once I reduced it my aim and K/D improved massively, making the game much more fun to play on the Deck.

I've heard several others have had this issue, but I've never had it myself. I would suggest maybe trying another proton compatibility layer.

Why don't you lock the frame rate to something like 35 fps without frame generation? There is quite an objective latency added because of it, and it's kinda crazy you ended up playing ranked despite that.

I keep going back and testing this every time someone suggests this, and I have a much better gameplay experience with frame gen on 🤷🏼♂️

@DeckedOutGamingYT The game is very stable at 35 FPS. I also just tried frame gen and the stutters had smoothing applied, plus latency. I don't know how you could but there was no way I would accept that. It also makes sense why you're playing as Cloak and Dagger; they have no real need for precise aim. I'm sure if you tried Black Widow or Hawkeye you'd be singing an entirely different song. Maybe you like the game looking smooth and don't notice the terrible frame times, and because you're not playing an aim precise character, it doesn't matter *that* much. Just slightly disingenuous that you're recommending frame gen without mentioning how bad it is for other characters.

I don't mean to seem disingenuous about that, I'm just sharing my experience with the game so far. I'm sure others may not agree with using frame gen, but it's what has worked for me. Here's to hoping they optimize the game some more so this isn't an issue.🍻

It's very stable in most maps but there is a chance of instability in two maps: Midtown and Spider-Islands. Even at 30% resolution I've seen frame rate drops as low as 27 fps. It's slightly worse at 100% resolution but not by that much. CPU bottlenecked. It's even worse with frame gen though; the stutters are much longer and frequent. I really do hope they fix this game and expose these configs without having to go into the system folders, because it's nearly OK on Steam Deck.

for best performance you should set the in game resolution to 720p with all graphic settings set to low with intel xess on. This will get 60 fps without frame generation. Frame generation increases your frame time which sucks for fast paced games (frame time measures how fast your console or pc outputs frames, whether they are real frames or fake frames. You'll notice that your frame time graph is nowhere near smooth with frame generation on. You can see this in your video @ 1:24. A smooth frame time graph is what you should aim for.). Lastly, undervolting your steam deck gets you a bit more performance and extended battery life.

I've tried switching the resolution and turning off frame gen, but I have a much better experience at 1280x800 and frame gen on. But we'll see if that's still the case after the update today/tomorrow.

Mine seems like it freezes as soon as I choose the proton option, when I hit launch I just see the steam logo with a blue circle around it. Using a 512 OLED, if anyone can help out. Thanks for the vid!

Try using GE Proton as the compatibility layer. This can be downloaded using Discover in Desktop Mode. I’ve had the best luck using GE Proton 20.

Hi. I just purchased this game with the intention to play with my friends. Ill be on Steam Deck and they'll be ok PC. Is the game easy to play on Steam Deck controller? Also, do you know if we're likely to run into technical issues given I'll be on SD and my friends on PC? Can we just create a game for us to learn and play? RoR2 is very easy to learn but hard to master. There shouldn’t be any issue when trying to play with others on PC. It’s also a very controller friendly game.
