It works very well adding your medium directly to the paint first and either layering your colors or pourly small amounts of different ones onto your lid

I've saved tons of brown paper to use as backgrounds, but I find it is not acid free. This concerns me as far as being archival. Do you think sealing it with the medium compensates or protects it from color and material degradation?
@SandraDuranWilson

@carolmohamed5238 the acrylic mediums will keep it from crumbling over time but to get the most protection spray it with a ph neutralizer spray before. Krylon makes one.

Hi! I’ve attempted gluing fake money onto an oil painting. I had done an underpainting and used an adhesive for gold leaf thinking it’d make the paper stick too. I then painted around it and over some pieces. Now it’s starting to lift in some places. Can I use the gel you mention to lay down the areas that are lifting? Or any suggestions on how to fix them?
@SandraDuranWilson

@@shihoneyy i think the gel should hold it. The gold leaf adhesive is meant for very thin leaf, not paper.

Are colors that "play well together" ones that don't end up looking like mud? Could you give me another idea for colors that "play well together"? Is there a principle behind it?
@SandraDuranWilson
@SandraDuranWilson Ай бұрын
@SisterBaby if you look at a color wheel, you will see that some colors lean towards the other color. If you don't cross the line between the two, your colors will remain vibrant. An example is to use a cool blue like Phthalo Blue red shade and mix it with a cool red to get a vibrant purple. If you use an orange leaning red, your purple will be muted. I hope this helps.
@SisterBaby
@SisterBaby Ай бұрын
@@SandraDuranWilson I don't understand what you mean about "crossing" or not "crossing" the line between colors.
@SandraDuranWilson
@SandraDuranWilson Ай бұрын
@@SisterBaby Colors have a tendency to lean either to warm or cool. Like Phthalo blue red shade or green shade. Even reds can lean either to blue or yellow. When you mix a blue that has red tendency with red that leans toward blue, you will get a vibrant purple. If you cross the line by mixing a cool blue with a warm red, your purple will be muted. I hope this helps.

@@SandraDuranWilson Oh my goodness-- I actually understand now. This is the first time I've heard an explanation that made sense to me. So, it's like a warm and cool colors principle. I get it. Thank you so much, Sandra. This is going to prevent many messes, ha ha.
