I can do 15 pushups with controlled tempo, can’t do a pike pushup. It’s not even the same muscle group being worked: One is horizontal adduction with a bit of shoulder flexion, the other is purely shoulder flexion, not to mention the difference in angles…

To increase your hspu reps, do stomach to wall handstand push-ups, do very slow handstand pushup negatives, do bent arm handstand presses, and work on weighted dips. Also, as you do sets of hspu, your shoulders will strengthen and get used to the movement.

@@MavpaBananyes. When you can only do low reps, it’s better to do high sets with 1-2 reps. That’s a good way to improve. Do 6-8 sets of 1-2 reps.

To increase your pull-up reps you are going to want to start off doing sets with your max pullup reps. Then after this go into pullup negatives. Also, work on bar hangs as this will strengthen your grip and forearms. Also, working on Australian pull-ups will help increase your back strength. To help with dips work on sets with your max dips and then also do pushups and diamond pushups.

Yes, being able to balance a handstand for a least 15 seconds is needed before training for a handstand pushup.

@@Sws-FanI will make a video but best way to learn is stomach to wall handstand holds and then slowly taking one foot off the wall at a time and finding balancing. Also practice kicking up into handstand helped me as long as you know how to properly fall over if you kick too hard.
