Your video can be summarized in the following words. As the racket makes contact with the ball the wrist releases at the same time the the arm rotates resulting in a windshield wiper angled forward rather then vertically.

Great video! Key Aspects: Grips @0:59; Racquet rotation inside your [email protected]; Hip & shoulder [email protected]; Racquet drops with the left hand on it til the end, then release [email protected] when stepping in to impact the ball; then, extension @4.45; then, wrap-up

Does it mean that I should keep my wrist from just before impact to follow, and then untie it at the very end?

I've been a 2 hander for 15 years, but now I'm experiencing some back problems and I feel that a one hander feels easier on my back. My instructor is a 2 hander and he oriented me to do this flick with the wrist, but I would often frame the ball. Out of disappointment, I recorded myself and downloaded some pro footages and watched it slow-mo. That made me think they don't actually flick anything, but their looseness right after contact gives that illusion. I'm still to understand why I have low top spin, but my bet is I don't drop the racquet enough before contact and I'm not loose enough thus having a slow upwards movement.

I don't know why, but footwork feels a lot harder as well. Maybe it's just the difficulty in processing a lot of new stuff at a time.

Hey mister inside tennis,i see that you are struggling for 5 years with this problem, but you worries are over, because i gonna explain it to you. You forget the action reaction force. When you hit the ball, the upward movement of the racket wil be absorbed by more rotation of the ball. Simple sience

This dude makes a valid observation but is overly repeating a straw-man argument - no-one is claiming that the forehand swing makes a 90' adjustment on impact with the ball - it's a matter of perspective whether one observes the swing from the side or the front. This video could be improved and hold more credibility if it was done outside and on court with some slow-motion video using split-screen of someone actually hitting a ball to make the point simply within a few minutes without too much repetition. The grip also affects how bent the arm will be on the follow-through - Federer uses a modified eastern grip and video analysis shows that his approach to ball contact is quite shallow though because of his arm extension he creates more velocity than players who have a bent elbow ie. Wawrinka and Djokovic. Both Federer and Nadal have good arm extension and a few years ago before Djokovic gained dominance, the common feature of arm extension (having a straight arm rather than a bent elbow) had earned Federer & Nadal the highest combined Grand Slam totals of any two professional players. However, this common feature might be a statistical anomaly since Djokovic is leading the men's Grand Slam record to date. It is the job of coaches to teach the best approach for each student depending on their individual capabilities.

You couldn't be more wrong. The more topspin the better the backhand is. Just because the casual recreational player can't execute the flick doesn't mean it's not a feasible technique. Just be looking at your swings I can tell you are doing something wrong right off the bat. Also your explanation about the law of physic doesn't make sense. Sure if there's no gravity then swinging through the ball will get you to hit the target more likely. However there's gravity to think of which is why topspin is a huge part of the stroke. Your lack of explanation of the topspin part is what kills this video for me. You are good as a beginner coach but I'm afraid anyone who follows what you say will stay as beginner.

The windshield is angled forwards as you hit along the windshield the racket is moving forwards so you don’t use your wrist. But the rotation of the racket has the tip pointed to the target so there is a lot of rotation in the modern tennis swing.

You are totally right about this. For decades I was wrong about the technical stroke . It has to be flatness stroke and your arm bending naturally. Rarely the coach talks about this concept. Thanks so much.

I always hate when people say "The pros are doing this". Dude, if the pros are doing this, why aren't you a professional tennis player? The golden rule of teaching is to teach, not observe and say the pros are doing this. Here are the keys to a good forehand. LEARN EVERYTHING -- every variety, every type of shot, even reaction to ball depth, height, spin, underspin, etc. YOU DO NOT HIT THE SAME FOREHAND FOR EVERY SHOT... There is a saying -- "student of the sport" -- learn everything, then you can choose which one. There are just 3 exercises you need to master to be a good player with your forehand or backhand -- after that it is fitness and power (which is age related so you can't limit your teaching). 1) You must be able to rally very short to baseline and possibly further without stopping the ball with a mastery of FLAT, SLICE, UNDERSPIN, and TOPSPIN. 2) You must be able from the same grip, to hit a flat ball, topspin ball, a lob, a smash volley. 3) You must be able to do all of the above LOOSE, gripping the racket at acceleration. If you can master this, you will be a formidable baseliner.

In top of that, in this video You are sending us to watch videos of professional players when YOU ARE THE ONE who must put those videos here to prove your theory! Come on! hit just one f.. ball and teach how it must be done or you are just a big mouth?! UNLIKE
